@chica95110:  FH picked the ring out all by himself. I had no idea. I had never really even told him what I would like. But, he picked an awesome ring that I LOVE ๐Ÿ˜€

I showed him rings I liked over the long period of time i.e. months. I showed him specific rings via the internet and ones in stores…..namely antique stores then I left it all up to him, knowing it could be another 6 months before I got a ring. I got the one I really wanted funnily enough and it did take him a while.

Fiance and I went shopping twice together. After falling in love with the setting I have, he said it was “the one.” We returned two weeks later to purchase the ring during a trunk show. We saw all the current Tacori designs and knew this one was it.

My Fiance had mine custom made. Never knew anything about it.

I picked out 3 from the same jeweler and he chose his favorite.

There’s definitely a front-runner, so hopefully he knows his girl well ๐Ÿ™‚

my SO knows my dream ring and its easy to remember: Tiffanys classic solitaire. We’ve gone to gawk at them a few times at his request. Hoping to get it soon!

I have a dream setting (with a few tweaks) but ultimately he wants to do the whole process himself. I’m allowed to pick the setting, tell him the changes I want and show him the stone (cushion moissy) but that’s it. I really want to see the moissy though!!!

@chica95110:  My DH proposed with a ring and then we went to pick out my Ering. He proposed with a novelty ring from a beach shop and I now wear it everday as a RHR. DH wanted me to pick mine out but also didn’t want to propose without a ring sooo that was our situation ๐Ÿ™‚

We had decided to get married about three months ago, over dinner at home. We’ve been wearing simple rings for a few years now, without being formally engaged or married. Two weeks ago, he hurt his hand and had to have his ring cut off. He was pretty upset, and I was trying to make him feel better. His band had been a white gold flat edge band with a thin rose gold strip just off to the center. We had picked it out together to match my sapphire and rose gold ring. I was frantically looking online trying to find completely matching bands to be our wedding rings, to turn the negative into a positive.  I think I made him nervous that I would buy something and have it not go with my engagement ring. He got really nervous and pulled a box out of his underwear drawer and got down on one knee. It was an antique setting I had seen and comment on months ago. The next day two loose diamonds he had ordered arrived. I picked which one I wanted. it’s at the jeweler being put together now. I think he wants to surpirse me with an elaborate proposal, but i’m so impatient to have the ring on my finger. I want to start telling people, but he wants to wait until we have the ring.

I have never been a big jewelry person and can be pretty picky about what I do wear. As such, SO asked that I just pick out the ring I wanted. I ended up finding two rings that I loved and told SO the final choice was his. This approach worked out perfectly for us, and I couldn’t be happier with his decision.

I did not choose my ring. It was a surprise and I love it that way ๐Ÿ™‚

Like most other bees here, my BF asked me what I would like. We’re not engaged yet, but I plan to give him 2 to 3 options of settings and let him decide. But the center stone We will select together, and there will be only one option. We’ve been to Tiffany’s to look at rings, and I can tell he really just doesn’t get into the the specifics of a diamond. I’m more than happy to do my homework here!

I picked out my engagement ring and really wish I hadn’t. I had my heart set on a round brilliant in a pave solitaire setting. I picked it all out and made sure my mother, sister, and best friend knew all the details and specs. I knew my Fiance would consult one of those 3 women if not them all, so I was sure to get exactly what I wanted. Little did I know he had picked out a diamond and setting vastly different than mine months before I had picked one out. He purchased the diamond and setting I chose and waited to tell me he had previously picked something different until months after we were engaged. I was curious so I had him show me the pictures of his choice and it was far more beautiful than what I selected. I’m kicking myself for picking anything out and wish my fiancé had gone with his original selection. He purchased what he knew I wanted and I love him for that, I just wish I had never picked anything out and planted the seed with the women I knew he’d consult.
