I honestly didn’t know. In retrospect, he was extra mushy the week leading up the proposal, but I didn’t find it weird at the time. Just sweet. 🙂

He didn’t give me any signs. The one thing I noticed after the fact was that he researched the proposal place right in front of me. We were going camping somewhere that we hadn’t ever been, so he went online and looked at the map and saw what they have there. He said they have a suspension bridge that he wanted to check out (where he proposed). He’s always researching online before we go places though, so that didn’t stick out to me at the time.

He didn’t tell/ask my parents before he proposed because he knew my mom would give it away. She’s not good at keeping secrets. His parents knew b/c my ring is a family diamond so he had to get it from them first, but only told them a few days before so I didn’t even see them before. The only other person he told was his brother, who lives out of town, so we didn’t talk before either.

I honestly had no idea he was getting ready to propose that night.. or even that month. We had picked out the ring already so I knew it was coming… and Fiance swears I knew he was going to propose. He left one evening while I was watching TV to go do some shopping, I guess that should have given me the idea that he was buying my ring, but really it was so close to Christmas I just thought he wanted to buy some stuff without me around, nothing odd about that!

When he came home, though, I begged him to wrap whatever it was that he got and put it under our tree because there wasn’t any gifts under it yet! Well he scrambled, apparently, because all he had was the engagement ring… which came in the box you’d expect but also in another box around that… so he through that outer box into an even larger box, wrapped it up and put it under the tree. He was pretty good at making sure there was very little rattling going on.

So I honestly didn’t suspect it…. then fast forward to two days later. I had bought us a camera for our collective gift and he thought it was so sweet. We were hanging out in the kitchen when I gave it to him and he was like well why the heck not, I want to give you a small gift now (it was the 18th of december so christmas was a whole week away!) so he went into the bedroom to grab the ring… and honestly I thought he was getting a sweater or some small gift… but when I turned around he was on his knee!!! Fiance swears I knew he was proposing when he left the room but I didn’t!!!!

It was so us, in our home as the snow was blanketing outside. it was one of the best days of our life!

i didnt know, and i somehow missed all of the clues i should have gotten – like when he REFUSED to check his coat at dinner and acted all squirrly about it at the table – i just thought he was being weird lol – or when he INSISTED on bringing a particular bag with us on vacation, even though i knew we didnt need it and everything would have fit fine in another bag

its funny to look back now though and see the clues i clearly missed
