Hello bees! I recently purchased my wedding dress (MoriLee 5108 – http://www.morilee.com/bridals/blu/5108). Since the dress is rather plain on it’s own, I’m on the hunt for a blingy belt with crystals that go all the way around. But rather than have it tied with a bow at the back, I’d prefer for the seamstress to sew it on to my gown.
I’ve been looking on Etsy at belts, but I’m scared that if I purchase a crystal belt online, my seamstress won’t be able to cut through the beading on the belt in order to sew it around my dress.
Has anyone purchased a full bling belt on Etsy, and if so, how did they fasten the belt to your dress in alterations?

They have the same exact appliques that Etsy buyers use at a fraction of the cost!! I’ve bought from the site and they have great products. I also have a 15% off coupon I can give you if you see something you like.

I don’t know about Etsy belts in particular, but they are fastening my belt to my dress. Here’s a close up pic of the belt: http://www.wedinthebox.com/images/s/u201206/114__MG_3095.jpg
My dress is Essense of Australia D1108. The belt came with the dress though, I didn’t get it off Etsy.
But they are sewing it on the dress, it was their idea. I haven’t seen my dress after alterations yet, so I can’t say how it’ll turn out. But it can be done!

Generally the beading/crystals are sewn onto a ribbon (in your choice of colour). Then the ribbon is either sewn onto the dress or tied as a sash around your waist.
You have to look closely to see which belts have a more visible ribbon than others since some are just a small piece that sits in the front if the body making the ribbon visible on your sides and back.
Some appliques are also thicker than others so the ribbon can be visible on the top/bottom of the beading as well.
