Lol! Love these stories!
We told our parents right away, and they all already knew (FI had asked my dad 3 months before, his parents had seen the setting) – my parents were excited they could stop pretending they had no idea, lol.
I sent a picture of the ring (no text) to my close girlfriends….one called me near immediately and the first thing out of her mouth was IS THAT YOUR LEFT HAND ? followed by OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG IT’S BEAUTIFUL AHHHHHHHHH *happy noises* lol.
One of my coworkers (that I consider a pretty good friend as well) asked about the ring and did a happy dance and hugged me. Lol

We got engaged late on Saturday evening in Oct. 2013, so we decided to wait until the following day to tell people.
I called my parents and my sister, and tried to call my brother. When my brother didn’t answer the phone, I rang his wife and told her, saying that I wanted to tell him myself. So, my brother rang me back a little later, and asked me how my weekend had been. He knew that I had gone to an overnight event on Friday, so we talked about that and how my fiancé and I had had a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant the previous evening. Then the discussion turned to what we were planning on doing the following week, and I said that it was going to be a fairly ordinary week with work and a little ring shopping. My brother had obviously not heard the word “ring”, as he asked what we were planning on buying, and so I told him a 2nd time that we were going to go look at engagement rings. My brother seemed a bit confused, and so I told him that I was under the impression that an engagement was often accompanied with a ring (or rings). That’s when he twigged and congratulated us, and when I turned my phone on speaker so my fiancé could join the discussion.
We tried to call his mother a few times, but didn’t manage to get hold of her for a few hours. He left her a message that he needed to talk to and would try again later. When he finally managed to get hold of his mother, she was obviously waiting to hear some bad news, and I tried very hard not to burst out laughing until he told her that we had decided to get married. She was very happy for us both once she heard the reason he was calling her.

I made a meme. Success Kid meme is my favorite.

And it is on my left hand, but I mirrored the image to copy the original meme. No one was confused. That’s for sure.
