I just stopped, no issues.  If you want you could tell you OBGYN , but I don’t think its necessary til your next appt. or if you would like to get screened or checked up before starting ttc

I sure didn’t.  I was on BC since 14 (not because I was sexually active that young, for other reasons) and at about age 19 I threw mine out.  My hippie roots took hold!

I’ve always been told you’re supposed to. I was lazy and just stopped without talking to my doctor. I’m fine but I don’t recommend doing something against doctor’s instructions.

@cherrycoke: Still on BC, but at my last appointment in July I told the Dr. that we’d be dropping it in March. I asked her if I should come in at that time, but she said that wasn’t necessary at all. Just to stop when we were ready, and to keep track of when my cycles were coming around (just to make sure I was getting my period, wasn’t pregnant, etc), and call her if I had any questions. Seems like it’s nbd to her, even though I’m starting to realize that in 3ish months we’re dropping one of our safetynets! LOL.

@cherrycoke: I just stopped I did not see a doctor. However, if I wanted to start trying for a baby soon I will see a doctor.

I just stopped taking mine as well, w/o consulting my Dr. I wanted to give my body time to get back to “normal” too. I’d make an appointment to touch base before TTC tho.

My last obgyn appt was in April..I let her know that I would be TTC in the next few months….she advised that it stop taking bc a couple months before.  I would had not bothered to make an additional appt if it weren’t time for my annual appt.

I never told my doctor, I just stopped taking the pill because I was having bad migraines from it and didn’t like how it made me feel. To be honest, I don’t think she would really care anyway! I don’t really like her and she’s not especially caring. I’m planning on going to see her a few months before we TTc just to let her know our plans and to see if she has any advice.

Nope, just stopped (mid-pack even!) although I guess if you were taking the Pill for medical reasons other than contraception you should probably consult with a medical professional.

I went to my doctor for a differnt issue, but asked him about stopping BC while I was there. He said it was okay to quit “cold turkey” whenever I wanted to, and to have two or three cycles off of it before TTC. The nurse told me it would probably take my system a few months to get back to normal. Both doctor and nurse told me to start taking prenatals, which I have. I don’t know that it would have been worth scheduling a specific appointment just to talk about stopping BC.

Question for the gals who have quit…it’s advised to finish the pack, right? Rather than just quitting on any random Tuesday mid-pack..? I wasn’t sure about that.

@cherrycoke: That’s what I’m thinking. Thankfully, mine times out so that I’ll get married on my last active pill. Saves me another $10 rather than buying one more pack 🙂 Hahaha.
