I sent them. Though 90% of my guest list was local, I was tired of people CONTSTANTLY asking me when the wedding was and where it was. We ended up having the wedding 45 minutes away from the hometown.

We didn’t send save the days because we had a small wedding, a six month engagement, and it was an off season wedding so we weren’t worried about conflicting weddings.

I sent STD’s just under a year before the wedding. We are having a destination wedding so we thought it important to send them so that everyone who wanted to come to the wedding could make arrangements. We will be sending the formal invitations next month.

We did, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! We ordered postcards with our photo and all the info from Vistaprint. It was abut $20 plus postage. The majority of our guests are out of town, and out of country, so that was important to me to give them “official notice” really soon. Even our friends and family in town were really excited to recieve them. It aleviated a lot of the questions about where and when.

We weren’t going to initially, because it’s a small wedding. I ended up sending them later than I should have, but I’m glad that I did. Some people assumed they weren’t invited because it was a destination wedding, so the save the dates helped clear that up.
