OH i settled hard. I had about three dresses I wanted a lot before the proposal happened. One being a very expensive Henry Roth. Unfortunately, realizing how much weddings cost, dream dresses were out the door. I was lucky to purchase a dress for $100 as a bridal store in my town was closing. It’s not my favorite, I feel that I look fat it in, but at $100 you cannot complain. I’m looking into about $300 for alterations when the time comes, I hope that helps it make me look better.

i sort of settled, but its a long story.
i’m from singapore, where most people rent their gowns. you can pick a gown off the shelf to rent, or you can custom make a dress but you don’t get to keep it. but even renting is pretty pricey.
so i went to some shops intending to rent because what am i going to do with a big white dress after the wedding right? and i’m sort of big sized here (i’m a us size 6, which is still pretty big. here most girls are really petite and around us size 2.) most dresses were wayyy too small. finally i found a shop that had decent dresses. i showed the shop some pictures i liked, incuding the mori lee 5108. and the girl was like oh we have something like that! i tried it on, i think it was indeed the mori lee 5108 but she didn’t want to admit to that. it looked good and i was like welp, this is it.
THEN! it turns out that the shop wanted to charge me USD700 a DAY just to rent it! that was insane, because i’m having two ceremonies (one for family and one for friends). so i went to bestbridalprices and found it for USD650. But bestbridalprices wouldn’t be able to rush it in time for me. so i went to preownedweddingdress.com and bought it for USD500.
long story short: i settled because i couldnt try anything else on, here we don’t really have all the big brands. but ultimately, i got a dress i like enough, it looks good on me if i may say so myself, AND i saved a lot of money!
