I usually go over things with Fi before making big purchases… like a beautiful wedding dress so this is hard and im doubting myself even though I LOVE the dress.
Did you go shopping with your Fi for a dress, show him to get his thoughts before buying it or kept it all a surprise? Please comment with what you voted on.

@Shonzilla: my Fiance and I always make decisions together so it was super hard for me not to involve him in choosing the dress! He has seen the dress but it’s our little secret to all our family and friends. We also both really don’t like surprises so that’s just how we work. But every relationship is different so I can totally understand waiting until the big day 🙂

He won’t see it till the big day, BUT before I even went shopping I asked him what styles he liked. (A-line/ballgown and strapless and strictly symmetrical details were his only real preferences.)

Because fiance and I are both women and are both wearing dresses, we felt like we had to go to each others appointments to make sure that the dresses we picked wouldn’t clash. So she’s seen mine and I’ve seen hers. But we’re not going to each others fittings and we won’t see each other in dresses again until the wedding.

I want a pretty non traditional dress so showed my man a few pics of similar styles to see if he would be ok with it

I asked him before hand what his preferences were (no mermaid). He’s not seeing the dress(es) until the big day (except the party dress- don’t care if he sees that as I may be wearing it to rehearsal dinner as well).

I showed him the stock photo of the dress and I also showed him a picture here on the WB of me in the dress (my head was cut off). He liked the dress. Otherwise he won’t see my dress on me jacked up until our wedding day.

@Shonzilla: i asked Darling Husband (then FI) what he thought when we watched things like SYTTD (that’s how I found out he despised ballgowns) but never let on about what I actually got. I wanted to get something he’d love, so I’m glad I asked his general opinions on styles before I started shopping.

I showed him a photo before I purchased my dress. It was a large expense, and we prefer to make large expense decisions together.

I’m keeping mine secret until the big day. My friends who have seen the dress LOVE teasing my Fiance about it. Here are some of the things that they said about it;
1. It’s black latex with feathers
2. It’s blood red and ripped
3. It’s a hello kitty bridal dress.
I’m sure that there will be more over the next five months.

I showed him stock photos of some of my top contenders to make sure he didn’t hate any of them. But he didn’t know which dress I got and didn’t see me in the dress until our first look.

I showed him the model picture.. but he hasn’t seen me in it.

He went shopping with me. 🙂 Also, when I learned my grandmother was dying, I wanted her to see me in my dress before she passed. Fiance helped me put on my dress, he helped me place the train and took a picture of me in it. The next day, I showed it to my grandmother and she was very happy and emotional about it. That’s also the last time I talked to her, because after that she was so weak she didn’t wake up.
I don’t consider my Fiance has ”seen” the dress though. I will look glamorous on my wedding day, it just cannot be compared to trying a dress in a store.

I showed him pictures of it (and me in it) after I bought it.

I asked for his opinion, but not is opinion of the dress(es) I bought!! I showed him lots of different styles and asked him what he liked, ball gown, etc. He did accidently see a photo of me in a dress on my phone, and he felt really bad, luckily it wasn’t the one I bought, and he told me he didn’t like it, so I knew I couldn’t get anything with a puffy skirt with lots of details…all though I did determine from him he likes Ball Gowns. It was hard keeping it a secret from him, and we have both of my dresses in boxes at the house, he hasn’t been tempted to look at them 🙂
