We will actually be saving over half  – would normally pay $3,200+ but because we are stocking the bar ourselves we are spending about $1,650.  Also, the $1,650 includes a lot of extra booze, because we are able to take back any unopened cases and bottles.

Also… you are able to chose your own alchohol which saves money.. some places I know will only purchase top shelf liquor which will hugely add to the cost.

Good Luck!

@Bostongrl25: We used a wholesaler in Boston called Gordon’s Liquors to stock our wedding this summer. It ended up being less than $10 per person instead of the $20 per person we were quoted at other venues, AND we were able to offer 5 kinds of beer, 2 kinds of wine, and top shelf liquor. PM me if you’d like their contact info. They deliver and pick up the left overs for you too!

We saved about $2000 by doing it ourselves. We ordered through our grocery store, which catered our wedding, and save 10%. We bought all the cups at walmart, they have the nice hard clear plastic ones cheap. We also bought most of the mixes at walmart. Cocktail straws I got from a local bar along with a few free bottles they gave us because they are friends. Some friends also gifted us a keg of beer, which saved us 200. The venue had a kegerator so we didn’t have to rent on. The only crappy part was the ice, the venue didn’t have anywhere to keep it so we ended up bringing in small bags hidden under tables in coolers.
