I am making magnetic Save-The-Date Cards with a picture of my Fiance and I. I don’t know if I should get professional pics taken or use one of the many natural pictures of us from our 5 1/2 years together. What did you do or what would you do?

We just had professional pics taken for our Save-The-Date Cards. For us the I really wanted the nice professional pictures of us and they were included in our wedding photography package. We also decided to have them taken because we plan to put one of the engageent pictures into a signature frame as our guestbook at the wedding.
For us it was important for those reasons, I would try to think if it is important to you or if you want Save-The-Date Cards with more of your couple history of them.

i ‘drew’ a pic of us on the computer.

aw that ‘drawing’ is seriously too cute!
Originally I wanted to have photos for our save the dates. Then, due to scheduling I learned that just wasn’t possible. We ordered STD’s without a photo and they turned out really cute. We are still getting e-pics done, but they will be used for like frames at the wedding and for our parents (and just to have nice photos of us).
It was included in our package, and honestly even if it wasn’t I would pay to have them done just to have!

Since a lot of people coming to the wedding is our extended family who didn’t get to hear the details of our engagement, the pics on our Save-The-Date Cards are our pics from that night, right after he asked! We were dressed nicely so it worked out well.

@ali thanks! i ended up doing those for the Save-The-Date Cards because Fiance was dragging his feet to get e-pics done…we eventually DIYed a few one afternoon because his mom wanted a pic for newspaper announcements.

I did a wordmap for our STD, so it’s all text, no pictures. That will go on a business-card-sized magnet, and will be included with our holiday cards. The cards will have a non-professional family (me, him, and my cat) portrait on the front, and a personal message on the inside. That way, people get a picture, but it’s not necessarily hanging on their fridge 🙂

We bought touristy photo postcards of Sedona and I hand wrote the STD on the back. I used “Save the Date” postage that I bought from Zazzle. No pic of us, but I wanted to be sure people realized the wedding was in Sedona and not in Phx/ Scottsdale.

We are planning on getting engagement pictures done and using them for our save the dates.

I don’t think we’re putting pictures of ourselves on the save-the-dates. We’re either going to do the little calendar with the daisy marking the date…or something else. Not pictures of us though.

We probably won’t do pictures just because I found an STD that I love, even though will be a TON of work, and it doesn’t have pictures on it. But we could find a way to incorporate one if we wanted to.
Krissycake- that picture is ADORABLE! You have some amazing skills!

Uh, we didnt so Engagement pics or Save-The-Date Cards. We were planning on doing Save-The-Date Cards, but we had a relatively short engagement (about 10 months) and we knew that everyone we wanted there would already have the date saved. While we were planning to do Save-The-Date Cards, we looked at the magnet ones. We NEVER wanted to do E-pics. We were together for 3.5 years and have thousands of photos of us from that time. So we were going to use our favorite one (which truthfully looks professional…) Deends on your budget, time, etc.

Our E-pics were included in our photo package. We wanted to have them taken to get a feel for our photographer. We’ve been together for several years now and while we have several pictures of us we figured we use the E-pics for something else.
