paigelove :  I had 3 requests: not public, if at all possible I wanted it captured through photo or video, not on a holiday. I wanted to see what he could come up with on his own!

All I told him was I didn’t want a public proposal.

We ended up taking a helicopter up to a Napa winery and he proposed at a picnic lunch he had setup for us. It was amazing, one of my most favorite days in my life, but he definitely didn’t need to do all that. I would’ve been happy with a private proposal at home too!

No because I honestly didn’t care how he did it

Not public, nor videoed or photographed, not on a holiday UNLESS it was Christmas morning

My husband casually asked me to marry him a couple of times. I told him that I wanted a formal proposal with a ring and all of that.  Otherwise, he came up with the plan himself.

paigelove :  I’m not engaged yet, now in the waiting game stage because we got the ring already so I know it’s coming! I told him I did not want to be proposed to in front of family or friends, and no restaurants or anything like that. Doesn’t have to be secluded but maybe in a park or somewhere pretty. We’re going to New Orleans next month so he has the perfect opprotunities then. I also told him it’s a must to ask my father before anything. But that’s just me! 🙂

no i didn’t tell him anything.  he knew me well enough to know i wouldn’t like a public proposal.  some friends apparently also tried to convince him to hire a photographer and he (correctly) told them that i would hate that haha.

I said I wanted it private. No family or friends or public. Didn’t want anything elaborate.

It was pretty much a few days from Christmas and we planned to grill our dinner that night. It was extremely cold too. We decided to have a few drinks in the living room before firing up the grill.

My husband was playing with the dogs and put his back out so bad he couldn’t get up from the floor. He was laying there. Almost howling in pain. I kept saying lets just cook dinner inside it is too cold anyways. We could just take it easy and get his back in order. He said no 50 times probably and was persistent. I didn’t think anything of it other than he is being ridiculous because he is only going to make it worse.

We go outside, me wearing probably 5 coats, mittens, a hat of some kind, and drinking some kind of booze with our three dogs. He is like clearly dying in pain too so I am still like… we don’t have to do this, dude.

Anyways he turns on a song we love and I turn around for a second to do something on the porch. Probably put my drink down. Turn back around and he is on his knee and proposed. In TONS of pain… but he did it. LOL.

Great thing is our security camera caught it. Kinda cool. Christmas lights going and music on. Cheesy but perfect for us. But also shows how stubborn he is about self care…

I think I had mentioned that I’d like him to do it while on a hike, since we met through our hiking group. And he did, at the top of a mountain overlooking a lake!
