Every year we bake for our local Legion hall. I love giving back to those who gave so much to us all. I never miss an opportunity to thank a vet, no matter what day it is.
This year we have a local unit that is deploying the day after Thanksgiving and we are putting care packages together to go to Afghanistan. It cost alot to deploy to theater for our soldies, and at the holidays it is particularly difficult.
“…a solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice on the altar of freedom.” A. Lincoln
As a side note – yesterday was the Marines Corps 235th Birthday – Semper Fidelis!
Did you thank a Veteran today? How did you do it?

I did. I thanked my dad. I will call him on my way home from work but I sent him a card.

I did! Well, I am not sure if they are veterans yet or not, but I thanked the two service men/women that I saw today on my way to work. I thanked them for everything they do abroad and at home.
ETA: I also donated to the USO in honor of Veterans Day.

I made my veteran a delicious breakfast!

If anyone would like to donate anything I would suggest this place. They do absolutely everything to help wounded soldiers and their families. When my brother was sick, they brought us down, provided a place to stay, and helped my brother with essentials (all their stuff stays with the unit in theater so he did not even have his toothbrush).

i did! i got to talk to my fiance, who is currently serving overseas with the United States Air Force. his squadron is returning from deployment next week and i couldn’t be more excited or proud! as a couple, we’ve been planning out january wedding long distance, so i know our vows on our wedding day will mean that much more, knowing what we’ve already endured as a couple.
