We did not. Our photographer runs her own business, though, and we paid for the session. I think the only situation where I would tip would be if the engagement session was free with booking the wedding, etc. She was a wonderful photographer, but I didn’t think it was really necessary!
OK I guess that makes sense. Its her business so she gets all the profit right?
I didnt…the e-pics were included in the package we got…so we didnt tip
Tipping is never expected (or shouldn’t be) by your photographer. I offer free engagement sessions when booked for a wedding- if I travel for the complimentary engagement session a tip is always appreciated (but again- never expected). If a couple pays for the engagement session tipping is unnecessary. In your case, I would say a tip is unnecessary. If you’d like to show your appreciation write her a thank you note after you recieve your photos and refer your friends (that she’ll really appreciate 🙂
Yes i would agree with MWilliamsPhoto
As a wedding photographer I’ve never asked or expected to get tipped, but I did get tipped a few times by the couples who really appreciated the effort I was putting into their wedding, and in those cases I gratefully accept it.
Some photographers actually lock it in the contract that they receive a “service charge”, so make sure to check your contracts and terms so that you don’t tip them twice!
