we didn’t really plan it persay, but i’ve always wanted a summer baby. my birthday is in the middle of winter and i hate it – i was always jealous of my friends who got to go away on summer vacation for their birthdays. mostly we started trying when we were living together again. my husband had gotten a job 500 miles away and we spent a year apart. there was no way we could try or i even wanted to start trying during that time. it was more dumb luck that we moved back in together at the right time to have a summer baby. heh.

When we started TTC in November we both agreed that we would take a break to avoid a December baby. Now, after a few cycles without a BFP, neither of us cares when the baby is born as long as I do get pregnant at some point. So, as a lot of other people have said, your perspective change once you start to TTC. Good luck when your time comes, it’s a very exciting experience!

My husband and I were going to put off TTC until July or August so we could aim for a spring baby, but we’ve since decided to start trying in May during our vacation to Italy. If we’re successful the first try, we’ll be having a winter baby. That’s not ideal, but I’m sure we’ll be thrilled.

@Daizy914: I didn’t intend to have a baby at a particular time of year. It happens to be a pretty convenient time, though. I am a teacher and I am due at the beginning of September. That way I will be paid all summer long (because I get my pay over 12 months) and then when I would normally go back to work and start getting paid for the next year, my maternity leave will begin, and take me straight until the next September when I go back to work. It means I won’t have any time without a pay cheque, which is awesome. If I’d given birth in June, for example, my mat leave would only take me to the next June, and then I’d be without any income from June until September, which would be really hard.

I was lucky enough to have two Winter babies. My first daughter’s middle name is actually Winter.
Although this pregnancy, it sucked having terrible sickness starting in July’s heat… but I know I’d be miserable big and pregnant in the heat, too.

DH and I haven’t talked about what time of year we’d like to conceive or when we’d like our baby’s birthday to be WHEN we start TTC, but I’ve thought a great deal about it and I would want to TTC around the beginning of May of 20___ (not sure which year we want to start having kids). So ideally, even if we have a preemie, the baby would be born between Jan. and April. That seems like a good time of year. 🙂

Wanted a spring baby, but here we are, seven months of trying, and at this point I’ll take a baby any season!!! The only time I may avoid is march so we don’t have a holiday baby, but at this point I may not care!!

@Daizy914: If you asked me a year ago, I would say yes I want a spring baby. We just started trying for baby #1, and I don’t really care much when it happens as long as it happens. One thing though, I would prefer the baby not be a summer baby because it’s so hot where I live.

@Daizy914: I started a thread about this you might want to look at: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/did-you-time-your-pregnancy-and-succeed#axzz2tOQqNg00
Looks like a lot of women times their pregnancy very well!
