    @MrsWinTraining2014:  We cut it with the fancy cake server to serve each other the first pieces, then stepped aside and let the venue cut and serve the rest, presumably not with our cake service instruments!

    Our venue provided us with a cake knife & server for the first slice. It was a nice silver set, but nothing special.

    They cut the individual servings so we didn’t have to worry about it.

    We cut the ceremonial first piece with a family heirloom cake knife set. The venue then took the cake to the back to cut pieces to serve to the guests.

    We are skipping the fancy cake set. We’ll never use it again and that will be at least $40 we don’t have to spend. Yay!  We are just going to use the plain Jane cake cutter the caterer has.
