bebelicious1:  I hope so!  they come with a cushion, so it should be at least no worse than the chairs we would have gotten at our venue – white wooden folding ones.  I’ll report back after my wedding!

bebelicious1:  it was a lovely wedding. we did have issues with the venue we did pick. they were really unpro. and unorganized. but it all worked out in the end. i ended up picking a yacht club, which was just a little building by the water and boats and harbor with mountains. so it was a nice area with privacy and it was a beautiful day! i had almost had my wedding on that sat instead of friday. good thing i did because the sat(next day) was pouring rain!

I got married last week – we had a £8500/$13300 budget.

I’ve just gone through our wedding spreadsheet and am mortified that we actually wasted £800/$1275, which is a huge percentage of our budget… 10%! We totally over-ordered on food (wasted a third of our catering budget… £600!) and bought too many odds and ends that didn’t get used, mainly accessories, far too many underwear sets and décor! I’m mortified because I could have put a huge chunk towards our honeymoon (I feel worse because our guests were unbelievably generous when we asked for contributions instead of gifts!) ARGH!

This thread is old but its something thats still relevant.

I feel that i wasted almost 300$ steaming mine and the bridesmaids gowns. Our wedding was hrs from our home town and i anticipated picking up my dress from the town and then havong to bring it back for the wedding… well i didnt end up picking it up until the day before the wedding AND they steamed it for me!!!!

I’d already paid so no point cancelling… but then i had a monaro with only two doors for the bridal car and made everything crinkle anyway…

There’s  nothing else i regret paying for.

We had the venue half paid for when DH and I canceled the wedding planning and decided to take a cruise and elope in The Bahamas. I ended up getting a full refund for both the cruise and the wedding package after Carnival screwed up so bad, so it could have been much worse financially. I also ended up wasting about $600 on my dress/accessories because I ran into a huge issue with David’s Bridal and their policies.

We wasted money on our videographer.  Don’t get me wrong, I wanted it, but it’s 4 months down the road, and we still don’t have anything, plus we were told the video basically didn’t come out. No refund or anything yet. That was a big waste of money, I would have spent more on a better videographer if I knew.

I also bought tons of paper lanterns (ove rbought) and string lights. Our decorator ended up doing a beautiful job with the ceiling, so I didn’t even use any string lights. I purchased litle tea lights battery operated to go inside the lanterns, not thinking they fall right through without anything to hold it!

All in all, probably wasted about $1,000 on things we just didn’t have time for.

I only made one mistake so far, but my wedding is still 10+ months away, so who knows what will happen. I decided I wanted to have mini mylar number balloons as my table numbers (inspiration pic below) and got a little too enthusiastic about the idea, since I immediately went online and found the gold mylar balloons I wanted and bought them. It was from an American company and while I’m living in Europe I had planned a trip home to visit my parents so I thought I had to make the order ASAP so I could pick them up during the trip.

Well, living in Europe has started to impact the way I think, since I looked at the order the next day and instead of ordering 16cm balloons (which are roughly 6 inches tall) I ordered 16 INCH balloons. That’s about 3 inches TALLER than the vases for our centerpieces. I couldn’t return them (well, I could, but I still had to pay the shipping and a restocking fee) so I ended up losing out on about $20. Found the balloons in the right size, though! And now I’m the official supplier of the balloons for my friends’ kids’ birthdays. 🙂
