I really think the only reasons you should get stand-in rings would be if 1) you’re going somewhere adventurous (rock climbing, safari, scuba diving, etc) or a beach where it’s likely your rings could get lost or damaged OR 2) you’re going somewhere with a really high crime rate, but that’s doubtful on your honeymoon. Do get insurance though, it will make you feel better 🙂

I agree! I have always though of Eurpoe as a safe place. But like anywhere i suppose when you look like a tourist you are more vunderable. I actually had not thought of switiching my rings till i read it a few times in some blogs and travel forums.
ack! I want to go there so badly. Its on my bucket list!

The only thing I would say is to be careful when you are going to the beach and stuff…Why not look into insurance for your ring though?

We went to Vegas for a minimoon right after the wedding and then to Mexico this past December for a big honeymoon. Both times I wore my real ring and never had a problem. When we swam in the ocean, I locked it up in the safe. If we walked downtown Cancun, I turned my ring around so you couldnt see it.
Oh and it’s also insured… just in case!

I wore my ring on our honeymoon in Jamaica. I left it in the safe in our room one day when we went to Dunn’s River Falls, but it was on my finger the rest of the week.

I wore mine and never took the sucker off.

i’ll wear mine. i don’t take it off unless i’m cleaning it though. if i’m alone in an area that makes me a little nervous, i spin it around so the center stone and pave are by the palm of my hand and it looks like just a plain band from the top, i guess thinking it doesn’t draw attention that way. i figure, if you’re gonna get mugged, you’re gonna get mugged. if you’re wearing a $20k ring, it’s probably insured. better to just stay in area you feel are safe, around other people and be confident. on our honeymoon, Fiance will be with me all the time, and i don’t worry with him there=)

You are literally more likely to get robbed/killed over a ring in the US that in most places in the world.

I’ve traveled quite a bit to europe and have worn my diamond jewelry without any issues.. the only thing i advise you doing is not carrying a large purse around, but i’ve always felt quite safe in europe. i will be going to italy for my honeymoon and will be wearing my new bling! 😀

We didn’t go on our honeymoon yet, but since we’re not going anywhere out of the country (going to Las Vegas) and we got insurance on the rings we plan to wear our wedding rings.

i wore mine on my honeymoon – but i went to Jamaica, not Europe. the only time i took it off, besides showering and stuff was when we went snorkling and the only reason i did was because i have a huge fear of the ocean and i dont need anything shiney attracting sharks.haha.
i was a little nervous to leave it behind but i put it in a bag inside my makeup bag inside the safe in the room – turned out the safe kept it pretty safe.

Don’t take it out of the country. I know a lot of people who regret doing so for many reasons. A lot of countries are suffering economically, and if you enter the wrong part of town in any country it can spell disaster. You don’t want to be cased either. In other countries Gypsies watch tourists to see who to rob. It won’t kill you not to take it

My ring stays on my finger at all times I have never worried about getting mugged but I rarely walk around unknown areas alone

When I was in Mexico in January, I wore a different ring other than myu ering. Not really b/c I was worried about having it stolen. To be honest, I was worried that I would lose it. I was afraid that it would fall off in the ocean or something. Plus, it was an all inclusive so the booze was flowing.
