Plus, these gifts are for your married life, so in my opinion, you should wait for married life to use them. It was SO much fun to come back from the honeymoon and set up our new kitchen stuff, switch out our towels, make a fabulous meal using all new pots and pans, and make a huge trip to Goodwill. It was really exciting. I would personally urge all engaged couples to wait.
I’m really glad we didn’t wait until after the wedding/honeymoon to unbox everything lol. We got so much stuff and it was already crazy to come home and have to organize everything as it was! I can’t imagine if we had to unbox all the gifts in one go! It was plenty exciting opening them as we received them. 🙂
I’ve heard a few people say that shower gifts are okay, but any gifts not received at a shower should not be used until after the wedding. I’m curious to know the logic on what makes it okay to use shower gifts and not wedding gifts? Either way it’s a gift to celebrate the wedding?
So if I have a shower and get a mixer, I can use it, but if the very next day a new set of sheets are delivered from my registry I can’t use those? I guess I don’t understand the difference. I actually really curious about it. 🙂
I don’t know…I think I’ll be too busy to even open them until after the wedding. I was kinda planning on stacking them up against the wall in my living room and then having a hayday with them when I get back from the honeymoon. Why not. =)
I swore that I wouldn’t… But then we got a dishrack! I was so excited, I used it that very night. Soooo much better than drying dishes on towels!
I just received a thank you card for a wedding gift that I sent for an upcoming wedding (yay for prompt thank you cards!). In the card, the bride mentioned how much they liked it and that it has already become their go-to pan. Honestly, I was just pleased that they were happy with what I picked out, and that they had been getting good use out of it already (the bride and I both love to cook, so I chose some Le Cruset from her registry that I had been lusting over myself).
