@mrsSonthebeach:  *shrugs* we weren’t worried about it. Literally nothing could have prevented us from getting married (especially not in 2 months before our wedding when we started receiving gifts) unless one of us died, and I’m pretty sure no one would have cared about gifts then.

@DeathByDesign:  And I completely understand that, but I’d guess about 99.9% of people getting married are pretty sure nothing will stop them from getting married. All I can think of is Carrie having to pack up all those gifts and return them in Sex and the City, the movie. I mean, these things actually do happen, to suspecting and unsuspecting people.

Plus, these gifts are for your married life, so in my opinion, you should wait for married life to use them. It was SO much fun to come back from the honeymoon and set up our new kitchen stuff, switch out our towels, make a fabulous meal using all new pots and pans, and make a huge trip to Goodwill. It was really exciting. I would personally urge all engaged couples to wait.

@mrsSonthebeach:  Well we were just fine. If we didn’t get married at that point, I would have just given the guests their money back out of my pocket. I was willing to bet that we’d get married I guess. 😉

I’m really glad we didn’t wait until after the wedding/honeymoon to unbox everything lol. We got so much stuff and it was already crazy to come home and have to organize everything as it was! I can’t imagine if we had to unbox all the gifts in one go! It was plenty exciting opening them as we received them. 🙂

@starfish0116:  I don’t think it’s appropriate to use shower gifts either.

@starfish0116:  on the difference btw shower and wedding presents–to me, a gift given at the shower is for the shower itself, so after the shower, the event has passed and the gift can be opened and used. yes the shower is to celebrate the wedding, the shower is still an occassion in and of itself. most guests who give a gift at the shower still give another gift at the wedding anyways–if the gift given at the shower was for the wedding, why would they give a second gift?

I don’t know…I think I’ll be too busy to even open them until after the wedding. I was kinda planning on stacking them up against the wall in my living room and then having a hayday with them when I get back from the honeymoon. Why not. =)

I swore that I wouldn’t… But then we got a dishrack! I was so excited, I used it that very night. Soooo much better than drying dishes on towels!

I just received a thank you card for a wedding gift that I sent for an upcoming wedding (yay for prompt thank you cards!). In the card, the bride mentioned how much they liked it and that it has already become their go-to pan. Honestly, I was just pleased that they were happy with what I picked out, and that they had been getting good use out of it already (the bride and I both love to cook, so I chose some Le Cruset from her registry that I had been lusting over myself).
