peachacid: Yes, I am planning on taking a shower the day of my wedding. I have very thick, wavy hair so no matter what I was not planning on washing my hair or getting it wet in the shower. That’s where the issue came in, because if my hair got really sweaty, I would have to wash it. My hair has better texture for styling when it is not freshly washed. Plus, I can’t wash my hair everyday as is due to the texture – it gets way too dry!

I didn’t know this would seem like such a weird question! I shower every day but do not wash my hair every day. On days that I don’t wash my hair, sometimes I rinse it, sometimes I let it stay dry. My hair does not do well with blow drying, and it takes FOREVER to air dry, so that is where my dilemma came in. I know having dry hair is needed for styling and that not freshly washed hair works better. And like said, I’d be fine with not working out, but I was just curious what everyone else had done, guess I shouldn’t worry about it.

MissGatitas: I don’t think it’s a weird question. I am not a huge workout nut, but it was a huge part of my lifestyle at the time and I didn’t feel a need to stop that just cause I was getting married. It was an awesome pump of adrenaline in the morning that got me ready to go for what was a VERRRY long day. Don’t let people make you feel like it’s weird 🙂 BUt based on your recent post, if your hair does not react well to the hairdryer, I would stick with a workout that won’t sweat you up. When i lift, I get sweaty but my hair doesn’t get super sweaty, so for me, I’d do a lifting day or something to make sure your hair is super dry for styling.

blueabz: Thanks, I think that is good advice! Maybe a good arm session that is quick and relatively sweat free is a good solution!
Thanks all for your advice. As I have never been married before, I wasn’t sure what the morning will be like and if it will even be feasible. I do have to get to the venue fairly early so maybe I won’t worry about it, but I just wanted to see if there were other ladies that had gotten a workout in! Most of my friends who have gotten married recently don’t work out anyway so I didn’t have many to ask, so I appreciate the advice.

No workout for me. I did wake up super early though, nerves I guess. I took a really long walk and took sunrise pictures. It was very relaxing.

MissGatitas: I went running with one of my girlfriends and it was awesome. I did have to blowdry my hair though 🙁

I’d recommend doing a super intense work out the on the day before your wedding, and maybe even two days before. But maybe just doing a semi-relaxed session on your wedding morning. That way you have the endorphin effects but without sweaty hair?

I didn’t even think of working out. I had a hair appointment at 9:30 am, and it took pretty much all my time to get ready for my 3pm ceremony. I did wash my hair in the morning though. I was originally not going to, but at my trial, my hair dresser said it would be better for me to wash my hair- it would have a lot more volume and she could give it a “dirty” texture with products alone.

I didn’t, but if you really want to exercise, I’d say do something low-intensity so that getting all sweaty (and needing to wash your hair) just isn’t an issue. Go for a walk, do some light weights stuff, something to get your body moving but not all-out. I’d be realistic about your time-line, though – if you’re up late celebrating the night before and have to be up early to start getting ready, don’t push yourself to get a workout in. (For me, I didn’t sleep a wink the night before – I wouldn’t have had the energy to exercise even if I wanted to. I still to this day don’t know how I got through that entire day without collapsing.)

I definitely did not have time to workout. I couldn’t fall asleep because of stress/excitement so I needed all the sleep I could get in the morning. Also, I would not want to get my hair sweaty. I agree with the PP who said go for a walk. It will get your blood flowing without being a sweaty mess.

If it’s something you want to do and normally do everyday then I’d look for a low-intensity ‘sweat-free’ workout. Something more along the lines of streching, yoga, light-pilates, walking, light weights.

My wedding is in a couple weeks, but I plan to run the morning of! Of course, It always just makes me feel so much better! I’ll probably shower and rinse my hair but not wash it, because I have super fine hair and it’ll definitely not hold style when freshly cleaned. But I also am not a huge ‘scalp sweater’ so I’m not too concerned about sweaty hair. I’ll probably wash it the afternoon before though, so it’s not a full 24 hours without a wash, and use some dry shampoo. (I normally go a couple days without washing my hair but by the end of day 2 I feel kind of greasy and gross so I don’t want to feel that on my wedding day!!)
