My bump did just appear one day. All of a sudden my stomach was hard and rounded.

I’m not a good person to compare to regarding weight. I lost a ton of weight in the beginning and have only gained back a small amount of it. However, don’t listen to anyone else. Your doc will let you know.

Ugh, I tried that calculator and it’s mean. Apparently before pregnancy I was “underweight” at 100lbs. and now that I gained 15lbs at 18 weeks I’m “overweight.” This is ridiculous, I have a freaking FOUR-POUND window for my ideal weight right now (108-112), and this dumb calculator just called me fat! Sorry, feeling a bit hormonal today if you can’t tell.

@CEtoSAHM:  LOL! Glad to know I’m not alone. Mutiny on the calculator! The weight gain part is especially hard for me, because I’m now the heaviest I’ve been in my entire life and I feel really uncomfortable with the way I look. These “ideal weight estimates” just add insult to injury, and seem to me to be a really mean thing to do to pregnant women.

I mean really, unless you blow up to the point where you’re severely obese and putting your baby at risk in some way, why does it matter? We’re all obviously going to try to lose the weight after, and if it takes us longer because we gained a little extra that’s no one’s concern but our own.

I didn’t mean to make anyone feel bad. I was just trying to help :/ Remember it’s just an estimate, and as long as your doctor is comfortable that’s all that matters.

I haven’t bumped out yet, but feel like I’m fat right now for some reason. It’s gotten smooth underneath my belly fat and my belly fat just sort of sticks out more. It’s different from when I was bloated at the beginning. I’m going to be 16 weeks tomorrow and can’t wait for our checkup just to make sure that our jellybaby is doing alright.

Oooh, I love the calculator idea. I am right on target. I’ve gained 3 lbs and am only 8 weeks PG.

I feel like I already have a little pooch, like all my fat is getting stored in my lower belly (well and boobs, too)!!

I’m eyeing my stomach everyday waiting for that baby bump, so we’ll see if it is a surprise. lol

Don’t worry too much about not falling in the calculator’s range from week to week.  You want to gain steadily over the course of your pregnancy, but often women find that they grow in spurts.  I hardly gained anything in the first trimester, then all of a sudden packed on 7 lbs in a month.  The next month I only put on 1 lb.  Eat healthy and stay active, but remember not to over-do it.  It will all balance out in the end.

My bump got huge all of a sudden, I thought it was normal since I was carrying twins. Turns out it was a TTTS symptom (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome).
