I’m not technically on the list but I majored in Biomedical Engineering which is right up there with the other engineering majors.  But then I decided to work in academic research so I still get paid like crap.  🙂

Yep! Then again, no one goes into the field of counseling/psychology to be lucrative. I will say that you can’t really get anywhere with a BA in psychology…I have an MA

@QueenOfSerendip:  I’m super low on that list (early childhood education).  Good thing I didn’t pay for my college, otherwise I’d probably be really depressed lol.

Neither my undergrad (history) nor grad (library science/archives management) made either list. Archives can be pretty decent for pay, but I’ll have to wait until I graduate next year to find out what I can get!

Fiance is high up on the top list though, with computer science! He’s only been in the field for 3 years, so fingers crossed he eventually earns more toward that top amount!

Graphic Design would fall under visual arts I suppose, and the starting number looks about right for that. I chose my major knowing I wouldn’t make that much money at first, but I’m getting paid to do what I love every day so for me it’s like getting paid to have fun.

It’s not always fun. Sometimes I want to rip my computer off my desk and throw it across the room, lol, but most of the time I’m excited about the work I do and that thousands of people will see it.

@sourcandy:  Haha, I’m an electrical engineer and I had someone ask me to fix the electronics in their car. I was like, uh, I do signal processing….. you really don’t want me touching your car.

Foreign Language Education in Spanish, and possibly German, but that one’s still up in the air. I’d like to know how that compares to Early Childhood and elementary.

@jessicadarling:  That’s not too bad. I could never do English. Not because I’d be worried about money, I just hate English, haha. No offense to anyone who likes it! Just not my favorite by far.

I was a Psych major…the lowest on the list.  Womp Womp.

However, one has to remember that this is only looking at undergraduate degrees.  Since there are so many psych majors and the degree is so broad, it is more likey that someone with just a BA won’t make a lot of money in the field.  I am in grad school for school counseling, and I know that I will never make a huge salary, I will make a comfortable one. Thanks master’s degree!  And besides, as one bee mentioned, I didn’t choose my field for the money.  And my husband (wrote Fiance first…gotta get used to that change!) is a software engineer, so matter what we’ll be OK.

Chemical engineering but working in a different branch than typical chem eng jobs, as the field is quite diverse but I certainly can’t complain.
