Did your corset show through your wedding dress?

Hello! I was a bridal stylist/alterations assistant in several of upscale boutiques (and still work in bridal fashion.) I never recommended my brides wear a corset under their gown. If you have a quality gown, the corset will often conflict with the exisiting structure and make it more difficult to fit properly. I know places like David’s Bridal really push them as an upsell, but I would focus on fitting your gown to your body. Sometimes your seamstress can even add extra boning to the bodice. Good luck!

It’s hard to make a corset go undetected.

My favorite underbust corset supplier is meschantes.com.

If you haven’t worn corsets before, I’d suggest buying a real one before the event and practice wearing it so that you know if you’d be miserable or not. Measure your waist each time you wear it so that you know how much you can stand to be pulled in. You don’t want to be in the bathroom at your wedding loosening your stings because they are driving you crazy! Sometimes if a string is exposed to your skin, it can feel like a pebble in your shoe. Practice makes perfect 🙂

Have your seamstress add additional boning to your dress.  A well tailored dress will look and feel a worlds better than a corset

kjbee :  From the photo you posted, I really don’t see why you’d need a corset.
