Darling Husband had consult on 1/7 w urologist.
He was told to get 2 SAs, with a minimum of 72 hour ejaculation “hold”.
He also had his blood drawn and the nurse called to tell him that his testosterone was on low end of normal. 326. He’s 35.
He went back to get his blood drawn again so they could look at the breakdown/hormones.
Unfortunately, nurse called last week to tell him the results weren’t usable b/c cholesterol was way too high (we had greasy proscuitto pizza night before) so he needs to fast and have labs re-drawn.
His next appointment with urologist is 2/26. We are both meeting with a Reproductive Endocrinologist on 2/13.
If the SAs come back poor, the urologist would call with results immediately, right? He wouldn’t wait until the 2/26 appointment to tell him his numbers?
Do we wait until he gets his blood redrawn then give it a few days so they can look at all results of labs & SAs all together? Or does Darling Husband call now and request labs be sent to our RE’s office independent of labs?
Basically, i don’t want his urologist to hold his results hostage until the 2/26 appointment. If there’s an issue, we want to address asap!

highstrungmomtobe : This depends maybe where you are. We live in Canada and you are not allowed to give test results typically over the phone. However they were willing to let my Darling Husband drop by and pick up a copy of his SA results the same day they received it, however if he wanted more info or to go over it with the Dr then he would have had to make an appointment.

For me and Darling Husband some of my labs were posted on the health portal ahead of RE appointment. DH’s SA was not posted and was just brought up at the appointment. He probably could have called to get the results sooner but there wouldn’t be much point. You could start trying to be healthier right away but you can’t really address anything immediately. It might be better to wait rather than go crazy googling whatever the results are.

Both times, they waited to give us results at the consult. The 2nd time, the consult wasn’t until 2 weeks later, so we requested them sooner and they faxed them to my office, but they wouldn’t tell us over the phone.

My husbands SA results were ready and posted on his online portal within 2 hours. This is in California.

We got ours the same day via phone, so I think it all depends on the physician.

Ours were posted over the clinic portal within a few hours. And we received that notice via email to both of us. But our RE did the SA in house.

Ok, thanks. So I’ll have Darling Husband call his urologist’s office next week and ask for results to be sent to us or have medical records sent to our RE’s office before 2/13. I don’t wanna drive myself nuts analyzing the report and using Dr. Google, but I definitely want our RE’s opinion on his SA.
