oh yes, this is very common, happens all the time. I thought I would be straight across strapless, mermaid, probably lace. I always knew NO EMBELLISHMENTS (pearls, beading, sparklies etc)

I ended up with a sweetheart, organza full a-line with a belt. The other ones werent special enough on me. Gorgeous, but not IT

Hmmmm….. Not really 🙂

I thought I wanted this dress/style

photos

But it wasn’t quite right. I kept trying to find a full ball gown to fall in love with. I thought maybe this one…. but i couldn’t find it to try on.

SO…. when i fell in love with a dress it wound up being just right. It’s got all the tailoring I LOVE in garments, the most flattering neckline on me, luxurious Satin… but fun movement of tulle popping out all over! Just, not a ball gown 🙂

I thought for sure I was going to end up with a lace dress, and probably a mermaid or trumpet fit.

I did end up with a trumpet dress, but it’s not lace.  I also knew I didn’t want any beading/sparklies on my dress which I definitely never changed my mind on.

I thought I wanted a princess ball gown type dress, but those looked pretty on, but were just Blah to me.

Example:

Here is what I fell in love with:

LOL My dress is as far from different as you can get from what I originally picked out. When I tried my original one on I felt like more dress than person.  When I tried on my dress I started jumping up and down I was so excited and comfortable in it.

Original:  Alfred Angelo 1516

My Dress:  Sottero & Midgley RSM1036 (but in Lt Gold with an Ivory overlay)

It sounds cheesy, but it turned out so much better.  All I knew was that I wanted lace and ivory and simple.  I got exactly that.

I knew I didn’t want anything strapless or anything ball gown-y.  I also thought I didn’t want anything with lace or embellishments.  I ended up with an all lace gown that had beads and pearls throughout!

Well I was not sure what I was looking for, just knew that I wanted something kinda different. As soon as I saw the dress below in a magazine I knew it was “the one”!! It was the only dress that I tried on, and I love it!! I can not imagine wearing any other dress now. =)
