@tranquility: i’ve picspammed mine before, they’re posted in my Bio section. i know a lot of people do like picnic or camping themes or whatever, but i say just do what seems most “you” instead of trendy. FH and I met in China, so we had pictures taken in Chinatown and the Japanese Tea Gardens (not Chinese, but Asian-y! ^_^) as well as some timeless beach ones. all together, it was very much “us”.

While I don’t have any idea what I’m wearing yet, we have a general idea of our “theme”.  FH & I are big movie fans & our first date was to the movies so we’re doing some pictures at the historic theater in town but we’ll also be doing some at another outdoor/nature-y location.

@tranquility: aww thank you!! and lol @ the nerdy/hennay theme! we’re definitely nerdy, so given the resources we totally would have galavanted around dressed like videogame characters (i did work an xbox controller into my boudoir shoot though!). depending on what kind of nerd he is, you could do part of it in a local comic book store, or i could see an outdoor portion in a park or something with you doodling a heart or something sweet in henna on your foot or his hand. there’s lots of cute, not necessarily in your face literal ways you could go! as for outfits, i chose all of ours so that we coordinated without being matchy matchy and had more formal-y ones along with the casual ones. hair and makeup, i did myself and took my time while doing it!

We didn’t really have a theme…. I pretty much chose clothes that I felt comfortable in and felt flattered me.  I’m such a kid at heart that I made sure to pick up Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears for my hubby and I to wear during a part of it.  We took pictures at 3 locations and ended up with 3 clothes changes:

@elliestan:

Your e-pics are FANTASTIC.  You guys look so adorable together!!! I love the red jacket shots, and also the beach shots.  Frig, I like all of them!!  How did you end up choosing between all of those?

I guess kind of. They were winter/sugaring off themed.

No theme, we did wear shirts that were in our wedding colors though.  I picked my college since they had some really nice backgrounds

We were going to do a vintage theme but that fell through the morning of.  And I think it was for the best.  We just ended up in casual clothes and got coffee.  Much less forced and natural for us.

We are planning on using out E pics in our invitation (black tie wedding) so we knew we wanted something pretty formal as to set the tone for the overall wedding. [these are iphone shots but you get the point]

We did ours in an artsy/funky part of Indy, but we didn’t really have a theme. Honestly, if nothing is coming naturally, I wouldn’t force a theme on them or you might end up regretting choosing it. As for your makeup, go a little bit darker than usual because the same principles for wedding day makeup apply here too.

And here’s a gratuitous picture of our e-pics 🙂 :

I would suggest wearing comfortable clothes that are you.  Also take in consideration whether you will be using black and white or color photos because colors translate differently in black and white as far as tones of dark and light.  Def wear a bit more make-up than you normally would.  I put on a ton and look like I’m wearing almost none!

We decided to forgo formal engagement photos and had a great STD photo shoot instead.  We went with a tying the knot theme and shot on the edge of Lake Michigan with Chicago’s skyline in the background since we are getting married in Chicago.  We used very thick manila rope to tie us together, etc.  It was fun and they turned out great!  I can’t post the proof yet but will soon.

We didn’t have any kind of theme.  We just chose a few outfits (I think we wore 3 different total) that we were comfortable in.  We had our pictures taken on our college campus but for many, you wouldn’t know unless we told you.
