…from what you originally wanted??
I was thinking about this today and wondered if anyone else did a complete 180 on what they originally wanted for an engagement ring! I had originally picked out a beautiful 3 stone sapphire halo and after purchasing realized that it just wasn’t me! I ended up choosing a solitaire instead!! I can’t wait to post the actual ring!! Post your “before and afters”!!

I told Mr. Diamond that I wanted a ring with a diamond halo and diamonds down the band. I pointed out a few that I wanted. And I got a solitare that is just beautiful. I feel like I’ve posted my ring everywhere but Mr. D did such a good job.
What I thought I wanted…

I love that cathedral setting and I almost went with a round brilliant in that exact setting!! Beautiful ring!

When we were researching rings, I finally chose this and printed it out. When we went in the store to try it on, I actually didn’t like it because I felt it was “too big” and “too blingy” for my taste. Plus, the wedding band would have swallowed my tiny tiny ring finger. I was very surprised, but it made sense because I’m not a showy person and I’ve never been a huge fan of diamonds. Aren’t they beautiful, though? 🙂
These beauties ended up stealing my heart away, and it was a discontinued set that wasn’t displayed online…I love them! 🙂 I love delicacy of them!

Thank you so much. I told him a loved him so much that I said I would marry him without even seeing the ring cause he did it a night in a gazebo. I didn’t even get to see it until I got back to the car. He did wonderful.
Your ring is beautiful too. I really like how the sides sweep over each other. My Future Mother-In-Law asked me if I liked that at a wedding fair we went to and I thought she knew that he had gotten me something like yours. He didn’t but the next week he did pop the question. Oh and Congradulations on getting married!!!

Thanks!! He has the ring now and has already told me how beautiful it looks in person!! He couldnt stop smiling about it!! I cant WAIT to get it!!
I do love the princess cut! Its so elegant and modern!! That would have been my next pick for a center stone if I hadnt fallen in love with the round brilliant!!

Yes, I did this also.
I wanted a princess cut solitaire & my husband actually had a princess cut solitaire on layaway for me. & Then one night after joining the bee I was looking at alot of different rings & it made me start looking at them on google & on reviews so I could see actual rings on hands & see all of the different styles & shapes out there. I found marquise solitaires & instantly knew that is what I wanted! We went to the store the very next day & got my marquise & took the princess cut out of layaway.
The ring I wanted before:
The ring I fell in love with & got:
It wasn’t a COMPLETE 180. They are both solitaires & white gold. But both very different shapes! I know some women who love a princess cut but wouldn’t even try on a marquise. So the styles are really different. I am so glad I found the pictures online & did my research because I love my marquise & my wedding band! I also did the same exact thing with my wedding band. When I got my marquise solitaire I got a plain white gold band to go with it. The diamond bands was out of reach at the time. Once I finally got my diamond band it was channel set. Which are gorgeous. & I loved it just for the fact that it had diamonds in it. But after wearing it for a while I noticed how cloudy the stones was in the wedding band. & I started loving pave & bead set bands. So I found one & we returned my channel set band for my bead set half eternity band which is more my style & fits my engagement ring alot better. I find the channel sets bands to be more modern & I like the way my bead set band has a more vintage feel to it. 🙂

I almost got this setting from Brilliant Earth. It reminds me of water, and since I grew up on the water, I thought it would fit me well. But I didn’t want to buy something without being able to try it on first.
And then, 5 jewelry stores, 40ish rings, and one amazing custom jeweler later, we had my lovelies made for me. They are perfect.

What I thought I wanted and what I got weren’t the same at all. But then again, I wasn’t allowed input on my ring. LOl! I wanted a halo, or I thought I did. I ended up with a solitair with a blinged out band. I love it =)

A little! I always pictured wearing a classic round solitaire, but ended up with a three stone princess cut.

Yes and no. I thought I wanted a 3-stone Tacori and the solitaire Tacori looked much better on my hand.
