I ordered a pair of custom cowboy boots today, and they will be ready in 6 months. I’m 17 weeks pregnant, so I’ll probably get them around the time I’m due. I got to thinking… What if my feet grow? I’ve heard people say their feet grew a half size with each baby… And others say they just swelled and went back to their normal size. Now I’m debating changing my order to a half size larger (shop said I could without penalty. They also said if the boots don’t fit they will get me another pair no problem–6 more months later).
So please weigh in about your size experiences and tell me what you think I should do?

@Miss Damask: honestly it’s really tough to say. I’m 37 weeks and my feet haven’t changed, 2 friends feet both changed when they were pregnant. One went up a full size and the other had to switch to wide width.

@Miss Damask: I’m also 37 weeks, and mine haven’t changed at all so far (not even swollen). However I have heard from several other people that theirs did change.

@Miss Damask: I’m at 39.5 weeks, and I had to buy a new pair of shoes about 2 months ago 1 size up. I have a lot of swelling, though, so I really hope they go back down once the baby is born. I don’t wnt to have to get all new shoes!

I’ve never been pregnant, but my mom always talks about how her pre-baby feet were a size 9 and after having 3 children they’re a size 10.5. So I think there is some validity in saying your feet grow 1/2 an inch with each pregnancy.

I have not yet had this experience, but I was the cause of my mother’s shoe size changing from 11 to 11.5. Since 11.5 is nearly impossible to find in stores, she buys a 12. I have size 11 wide feet, and I am seriously hoping that they do not become permanently larger. It is hard enough already to buy shoes.

With my first pregnancy 6 years ago, I went from a size 7 to 7.5. It’s been 7.5 ever since. I’m pregnant again and I’m hoping it won’t go up another half size.. So far so good. I’m only 13 weeks along though. We’ll see!

My feet were super swollen by the end of my pregnancy but they were back to normal a week or two after I had the baby. My shoe size didn’t change.

Haven’t been pregnant but I’m worried about this! I loooove my shoes. My mom’s feet went up around 2 sizes, I think.

I answered the first in the poll.. not from MY experience, but from my mom’s! Her feet went up half a size with each pregnancy (two) and never went back down after either…
She started at a 7/7 1/2 and now wears an 8/8 1/2

I had bad feet swelling with my oldest, but I was in my 3rd trimester all throughout the summer. My feet returned to normal.
I don’t remember if my feet swelled as much if any when I was pregnant with my twins but I was pregnant during the winter.

I’m only 7 weeks post partum & while the terrible swelling is gone, my feet still don’t fit into most of my shoes! My rings don’t fit either (well, I can get them on if I put lotion on my hands first, but it’s a pain to get them off)
I really hope my feet go back to their normal size, since I have about 20 pair of adorable peep toe pumps & a few pairs of nice boots.

Mine didn’t go up a size at all but they did get wider and need wide width shoes now.

I’ve never heard of feet growing but definitely swelling so much you’d need a bigger size.
