He picked it out completely on his own! I told him I wanted a round diamond, and nothing over the top! We are very simple. I did have my heart set on a halo, and he knew that, but he didn’t like them and got me something he liked that he thought I would too, and I do!

@FutureMrsMK:  My only suggestion was that I did not want a princess cut stone. I didn’t really care about what kind of stone or ring style. I didn’t want a high profile though.

He picked out a .6 ct round diamond with a cathedral setting, and I love it.

@shrubfish09:  We had a similar thing – I wanted halo, he hated it, and so we compromised on a style we both liked. Yours is very pretty!

Darling Husband picked this out with help from his sister and two of my girl pals. I’d mentioned once in passing, years who, that I thought sapphires were pretty, never gave any ring hints and frankly wasn’t even expecting a proposal. I’m really glad I kept my opinion out of it, because it’s not at all what I would have pictured as “my” ring, but it’s perfect in every way and I couldn’t imagine anything that I’d love more. He knew what was best, by a mile, and did way better than I ever would have!!!

I’m not engaged yet, but I picked out my future ring. I saw some of the rings my SO liked, and let’s be honest…my intervention was needed. I know it’s not all about the ring, but I wanted to make sure he wasn’t spending a ton of money on something that my heart wasn’t into. He’s seen how much I love the ring I picked out and it makes him love it too.

He picked out my ring! I gave him some pointers a few months before, but he actually disregarded those and picked out a ring that he thought reminded him of me. I was really set on a princess center, but the one he picked out is completely perfect for me and I’m glad he went with his gut!

I read the question wrong. I should have voted “He picked it out by himself.” I thought it was about his wedding band, which he and I picked out together.

Fiance and I talked about it and looked at styles together so that we could get an idea. He really likes solitaires (he likes the more traditional looking rings) and I’ve always wanted a three stone ring. I told him either is fine with me and that I would really like anything he bought me. He found a three stone ring he liked (and thought was traditional looking) and I absolutely love it! I’m glad he asked me instead of approaching my friends because we have very different styles. Most are engaged or married and while I think their rings are gorgeous, most of them are not rings that I would typically choose.
