No, he has no taste ha ha!!! My SO had no idea what he was looking at when we went to look and I knew exactly what I wanted. I picked the setting and diamond shape and we picked out the diamond together.

He really likes princess cuts and color somewhere in a set. He hates halos, yellow gold, and anything that looks bigger than 1.3ct on my finger. So we settled on 1ct princess, diamond and amethyst wedding band, all in wg.

@freshflowers:  Nope. She loves split shanks and halos and fancy side stones and bling. If I let her pick that is what she would have chosen for me. This is what I chose 🙂

Somewhat. I love rose gold but he prefered white or yellow gold. He also prefered a round diamond. I wanted either cushion or round so that was fine with me. I decided to go with white gold and got my wedding band made in rose gold. So we’re both very happy.

@freshflowers:  I feel like Fiance and I met in the middle. I showed him vintage inspired settings I liked and told him that I liked cushion cuts. But he wanted a round diamond because all of the women in his family had round diamonds. so I have a setting with beautiful scroll work and a round diamond I think it’s perfect.

My Fiance chose my ring completely on his own. I had mentioned in passing that I never wanted a diamond, so he knew that much. The rest was up to him. I could not be happier with it, and I love looking at it and thinking about how he chose the stone and designed the ring for me.

I voted “some” because he picked out the ring himself… He did research by asking a friend what I liked, but I left my preferences open enough for him to improvise. Basically, I let her know what shape of diamond I wanted, and that I didn’t want too much “hardware” for lack of a better word.  It turned out that he too was anti-hardware!  I would have been okay with a completely plain band/setting, but my Fiance wanted it to have a little bit of sparkle, which turned out beautifully Smile

@freshflowers:  Absolutely.  He took me looking several times and we both weighed in on the rings I tried on.

Luckily, we both wanted something vintage looking with a thin band.  I never tried on a ring that I loved and he hated or vice versa.

One day, he went to look on his own and texted me a picture of a ring he liked and then later took me to see.  I loved it – I kept taking it off to give back to the jeweler and then putting it back on again.

That’s the one he went back and bought.  I love that he initially picked it out.

He chose the ring. We didn’t shop together, either.

If he’s buying it and has some preferences, he should definitely have some say in it! 🙂

he likes simple and classic (think classic round four prong solitaire). i love sparkly and ornate.

my ring is the best of both worlds- a super sparkly three-stone with a pave band and micro milligrain.

He actually didn’t consult me on what I wanted at all.. At first I was disappointed because I had something very specific in mind, but it was his gift to me and I do love it.

So YES, his taste completely decided what my ring is!

@freshflowers:  yes definitely. I didn’t really say anything about what I wanted beforehand. If I had chosen I probably would have gotten something more ornate, but once I saw what he had picked out I loved it so much and I realized it was more classic and timeless. So there you go haha. He did however keep in mind that I love antiques, because the ring he chose is about 100 years old

@freshflowers:  My Fiance doesn’t like ovals or teardrops so I steered clear. He also doesn’t care for halos or blingy, ornate settings but I don’t either so it was okay.
