Hey Bees! I’m a little frustrated and wondering if you all have had the same experience. My wedding is only 5 months away and we just got engaged, so time is of the essence for me. All of our vendors have responded quickly and we’ve gotten them booked, wtih the exception of a florist. Every florist I contact has been TERRIBLE about response time. The one I wanted to work with the most has been lovely and sweet in her communications but still hasn’t provided a quote. In fairness it’s only been a week and a half for her, but I’ve read that 2-3 days should be sufficient. Also, her phone is ALWAYS answered by voice mail, so calling her is to no avail. Last I heard, she was waiting to “hear back from her growers” and she thought she would have a response by 4 days ago. Still haven’t heard a word since. Did your florists move at snail speed too? I guess I’m just eager for the peace of mind of knowing what we can do within our budget and what decisions need tweaked.

@amyeb25: I feel for you! I reached out to 8-10 florists and only about half ever even responded to me! Of those, I’ve been emailing 3 of them, and I have to agree that their response time is not great. I assume it must be because they are in their shops and not checking email as often, but whatever the reason, it seems to be a common trait for florists. I’m going to meet 2 of them in person which will hopefully make communication a lot easier!

Quite the opposite. My mom called her and told her we just wanted to come in and chat about options (not a formal consult). We ended up doing the whole consult right there, she wrote everything down that we talked about, grabbed a calculator and said “here’s your quote.”

Mine took quite a bit – and then about a week to send out the proposal after the quote. Have you mentioned to her that you’re in a bit of a hurry? We aren’t, so I don’t really mind not having immediate replies, however I can see how that could be frustrating if the wedding were close!

I meet with three, they all responded to my inquiry almost immediately. I meet with them each, 1 per week over 3 weeks. The first (and the one I went with) had a quote to me w/in 2 days after meeting, the 2nd took a little less then 1 week. The last company did a phone interview, then I meet with them a week later and was given my quote. I waited 3 weeks to book with my florist and they held the date for me during that time.
I worked with the first company to bring some costs down as I was quoted 2K over what I wanted to spend, and communication on that was back and forth quickly. I knew they were the right company based on how easily it was to communicate with them and received quick responses.
