Well I couldn’t actually see my hubby when he proposed to me as he did it on the phone.

My U.S visa was going to expire so I would’ve had to go back to Australia and wait a few months until I could re-apply to colleges and get another student visa.

Our friendship began online and we didn’t even meet until a year later when I took a leap of faith and flew to the U.S to meet him. Just a couple months prior to me flying over I let it slip that I was falling in love with him and he said he was too so by time we saw each other at L.A International Airport it was love at first sight…he also came with 2 long stemmed roses and a bunch of other pressies…I stayed with him for a month travelling around Southern California. Best.month.ever!!!…. until our month long honeymoon in New Zealand.

Soooo… long story short, as a long distance couple we had spent 6 months, sometimes longer, apart, he just couldn’t go back being apart like that so when I called him up in tears and told him I had to leave, he just *had* to pop the question.

I know it was unconventional, but its not about whether he got down on one knee or two… if there were fireworks, or flowers, or a string quartet… all that matters is that he loves you so much that he asked you to be his wife!

Nope we were at an overlook in Central Park in NYC and it was raining.  We were sort of in a puddle so I don’t blame him.  He just sort of  whipped the ring out and was like so do you wanna get married?  It was so us.  One day recently though I had my ring off because my fingers were puffy that day (need to get ring resized) and he came in the living room with it and got down on his knee and asked to marry me with a british accent.  That was just for laughs though.  🙂

He got down on one knee…but forgot to actually ask the question.  C’est la vie.

Don’t worry- my fiance jumped back into bed early morning on my birthday and just handed me a ring box with a stupid smirk on his face! I was expecting it so had to prompt him by saying ‘Well…?’ just to get him to actually ask the damn question lol Still, a big romantic set up wouldn’t have been very us- and thus probably very cringe worthy! Wish I had a good proposal story like some on here, though!

My Fiance woke me up @ 5 in the morning to propose and got the ring out of the bedside tabel drawer- he did get on his knees, but swears it was only to open the drawer, lol, so funny, Love him so much, I think I will always smile when I think about his proposal 🙂

@FutureMrsMaher: That’s soooo funny, our stories are very alike in that respect, are you marrying an engineer like me by any chance? lol

@Oneeleven: Yup, I was a little younger then- could still ride in the Junior division.

Mine did and it was amazing! He proposed to me on a secluded beach at sunset. After he got down on one knee, I got right down in the sand with him. I was so unbelievably happy and just wanted to be as close to him as possible 🙂

He did! He was standing behind me and asked me to check if his watch was in the sock drawer. When I turned around, he had slid in one knee and the ring was in the drawer. So weird. So us.
Also, the question was not “will you marry me?”, it was “wanna get married?” Still so weird and so us.

Mine did not. I think he meant to but he got all nervous.
