Future Mother-In-Law got our invatations from India! I am sure they will be very nice that wsa untill she emailed me today to tell me she picked out TURQUOISE AND CREAME CARD. WTFFFFFFFFF!
Our colors are cream, Light pink and silver.
Will this look really tacky?
Should I order some for my family and co-workers?

Invites dont have to match your wedding colors. I actually prefer it when they dont match otherwise it gets a bit monotonous.

Most people use the invitation to set the tone for the wedding. That being said the invitations do not have to be in your color scheme. As long as the invitations are not to casual or too formal for the overall feel of your wedding you should be fine. I would not worry about wasting the money to buy different ones.

These kind of posts kind of make me happy my mom and Future Mother-In-Law want nothing to do with helping with the wedding…
Typically I believe the invitations kind of set the tone for the wedding, but I’ve seen generic invitations that don’t match the colors of the wedding plenty of times…I just received the invitation for my nephew’s wedding and it’s white and a gold/brown color, but I know her colors are springy pinks.

I agree, then when your guests get there they not be expecting the colors and it will be more interesting 🙂

Mine didn’t match. I did traditional b/w invites with a silver border. Wedding colors are white, navy, pink with some green.
That was quite the leap of faith to let Future Mother-In-Law pick them 🙂

I agree wtihCarolineM: good for you letting your mother in law pick them. Personally I don’t think they need to match the wedding. To be completely honest if the invite was sent 2 months prior and I dont have it hanging on my fridge I probably coudln’t tell you what it looked like when I get to the actual wedding. They are going to be lovely, and maybe you can add a cute pink ribbon or something, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thanks ladies you all put me on ease! I really did not want her to get the cards because I was afraid she would put no box gift on it. By the way if she does I am going to have a buring ceramony for those invites.
I just need to calm down.

I think you will be fine as long as they are pretty 🙂
I got a STD for a friend’s wedding that is very modern and bright but the wedding color are much more muted, floral tones.
