My mom’s friend made her wedding dress. And it was a gorgeous silk dress, but it didn’t scream wedding, so my mom wore it out rewearing it to events like plays, nice dinners and operas. It’s still in her closet. It’s not my style (very 70s chic dress) and not “bridal” so it’s still in her closet for her to rewear.
She and my dad bought me my own dress.
HOWEVER my aunt had her dress preserved, and my grandma (and later my aunt) offered it to me for my wedding. I didn’t accept, but I had a really hard time saying that without offending either of them since I bought a new dress.

My mother preserved her wedding dress. Not like they do today, though. It was just kind of cleaned and put in a box. I’m so glad she did, though, because I’m going to wear it. I thought I’d hate it, because it was from 1986, but as soon as I saw it knew I was going to wear it. Yay Mom for not having puffy sleeves!!!

My mother gave her first dress to my aunt (her sister) to wear for her wedding. After that it was put in the dress up box at my aunt’s house. Her second dress she thought she had donated but my other aunt took it and had it preserved along with her (fake) bouquet. I’m so thankful for that because my mother passed away last year and it’s nice to have something of hers. I won’t wear it because it’s too big but I’m going to try and incorporate something of it into my day.

My mother & father wore jeans when they were married, lol. I believe she wore a short white dress for her 2nd wedding, but it wasn’t something you’d preserve- just a simple dress from Dillards.

My mom has hers preserved somewhere, which she now thinks was a silly idea. All the same, my sister has inquired about it, so it may not have been in vain.

She never had a “Real” dress. She just went to Jcpennies and bought a white dress and wore that. It currently sits in our closet, But one halloween she let me take it and be a bride for trick or treat.

My mom had it preserved, but wound up opening it at some point down the road, so it still wound up getting discolored though. But we pulled it out and I tried it on after I got engaged, which was fun! Not wearing it for my wedding though, it is SO Princess Di and not in style any more!
