My dogs are acting exactly the same, leaping all over me. I’m nearly 5 weeks preggers.

My two cats certainly noticed. One started sleeping on my stomach every night, the other started sleeping at the bottom of the bed. Before that they never bothered coming in our room. After the baby they seemed to want to protect him – slept outside his door. They were Persian.

Every time I’ve been newly pregnant(like 8dpo) my one dog starts sniffing my breasts really hard. So yes I definetly think some pets know.

Not psychic so much as just far more in-tune. We’re over-stimulated almost constantly and humans tend to miss a LOT of natural signs, body languages, scents, etc. We just don’t pay as much attention. Some animals don’t change their behaviours much, and some change drastically.

Their hearing is far superior… perhaps they can even hear the extra heartbeat? They will certainly pick up on the different hormones your body produces, they’ll even feel vibrations we completely miss (heartbeat again). Some animals are far more affected than others.

When anyone in my family is sick, our one dog will sleep next to that person, ON that person (which he doesn’t usually do) until they’re better. Our other dog is far gentler as well.

I suppose they’re like people in that way, some may notice but not change their behaviour, and for others, it becomes their main focus.

So no, you’re not crazy, and no, they’re not psychic. They’re just far more in tune with what is natural, and because humans aren’t, we tend to think it’s unnatural and ‘other’. 😀

No babies for me, but I do recall my sister having a similar experience. She does in home therapy and at one of her houses, the dog was really protective of her (I think she was about 8 weeks pregnant at the time, so def not showing). One of the family members asked her if she was pregnant based on how the dog was acting. 🙂
