No way! He told his Grandma and Aunt about it (his Aunt knows jewelry so he asked her opinion about the ring before he purchased it).

I told him I didn’t care when/where I just wanted it to be a surprise.

Holy crap! It was a HUGE surprise.

He knew my Mom wouldn’t be offended if he didn’t ask her (she has a tendency to accidently write too much in e-mails to us and spoil surprises sometimes).

There is no way he would have asked my Dad. My Dad and his wife tried to BRIBE my Fiance into proposing to me! Yep, Thanksgiving 2009 was certainly one to remember; I’ve only spoken to my Dad 5 times since then.

@Dollygold: My dad passed away when we were 19. He did ask him when we were 18. We broke up and then when it was time again, he asked my mom. Showed her the ring and everything. I can’t believe my mom was able to act normal for 3 days.

My Fiance asked both my mom and my dad for permission.  We live a distance away, so he called them and they put him on speakerphone because they knew why he was calling.  They told him they had been expecting his call for awhile!  Love the fam.

My Fiance asked my father and my daughter who is 10 yrs old. My dad knew I would marry him anyway even if he said no, but he appreciated the gesture and it went along way with him. My daughter was already sold on him but I could tell she liked that she was included and felt like she had a say.
