I originally suggested a late fall wedding, but he didn’t like it because both of our birthdays are in the fall (sept and nov), followed by Christmas. He wanted to spread the celebrations out. He suggested a springtime wedding when it wouldn’t be bitter cold (I actually said: “no, you don’t understand, my dear future husband, but if it blizzards, I’m okay with that!”). We worked our way to the middle by eliminating months. “Jaunuary!” “May!” “February!” “April!” “March?!” “Okay!”
The actual date was the hard part, since his graduation has been delayed a semester, so we have to work around his school. I was adament that I wanted a candlelight ceremony, so we also had DST to contend with. We thought about 3/14 because it’s pi, which is an inside joke with us. But it’s a Friday, he has school, it was after the start of DST, there were a lot of cons there. I had always fancied a “first” because I feel it rolls off the tongue nicely (“The first of…”), and the first of March just happened to be a Saturday and it just happened to be the first day of his spring break and it just happened to be before DST! 🙂

- Wedding: October 2014 - Greenbrier Country Club
We picked our date based on availablity of family and the fact that we wanted it in October.
So no meaning. But we are going to a bacon festival this year on the 5th. So, we’re haveing a -1 year anniversery date 🙂
The date is special to us now

That was the date the resort has available during the time we wanted to go, lol.
I did ask Fiance if anniversary gift giving would be compromised due to Christmas being around the same time, and he said no. Once I heard that the date was a go!

@littlemisst08: Haha, I love your reasoning! We were horrified to discover that our wedding is the same day as the college football national championship AFTER we booked everything. Ugh, our wedding is the first Monday in January, whyyyyy didn’t we realize what that meant?!
We will be ending the evening at a sports bar if Ohio State makes it into the championship game, lol. That’s where we met!!

Nope! It was the first available day we could get. It was my uncle’s 60th and my MOH’s mom’s 50th birthday though. After we had the date we went back and asked them if it were ok, and they said yes, but other than that it was just the first day we could get since Saturdays were all filled up.

My Fiance and I had our first date on February 29th 2004. I thought it was really special because it was leap day. We celebrated it every year (on the 29th if there was one, or the 28th if not) So we felt we couldn’t change our anniversary now, we are too used to it. Unfortunately there isn’t another 29th until 2016 and I’m not waiting that long. We are getting married as close as possible to our ten year dating anniversary. If we didn’t already have a special day I probably would have picked October 19th of this year because I love fall and mid-october is beautiful here with the leaves changing colors. I also would have liked to do a pumpkin/cinderella theme, but I’m pretty happy with my winter wonderland theme for February, plus we’re getting good deals for wedding off season. 🙂

no major significance… though we picked 10/11 since it flows well and should be easy to remember.

Yup! We got married on our 5th dating anniversary

Not really… Fiance is taking the CFA level 2 on 6/7 so we didn’t want to do it before then.
6.14.14 had a better ring to it than 6.21 or 6.28.

Our anniversary is November 4, and it was the closest weekend (I know I could have picked November 1, but we have a friend whose birthday is Halloween so we didn’t want them to be super close).
Also, I have this weird aversion to getting married on an even numbered day. I have NO IDEA why. But I’m happy that 11/9/13 is all odd numbers. <_<

The date was random, but it’s obviously significant now!

My family is chinese and really superstitious, so we had a few dates to choose from in 2012. Our wedding date was one of those.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
Our date was the 6 year anniversary of our first date, and the one we always use as our “anniversary”. Planned it so that it fell on a Saturday!

Nope. We wanted a fall wedding because of the weather in our area. September has lots going on (multiple family birthdays, NASCAR race, etc) so October was perfect. Worked out nicely that we chose Columbus Day weekend because I work for the govt and I get that holiday off and so does he, so every once in awhile our anniversary will fall on a holiday and we’ll get a free day off work 🙂

with the dates already important to us we kept with the idea…our birthdays, and wedding
