Songstress_7:  hi there!

My shower was this past weekend and all I did after opening presents was stand up and say “thank you so much for coming and for all of the generous gifts. Matt and I are very lucky to have so many people who love us in our lives” or something of that nature….Super easy and everyone clapped when I was done:)

Agreed with PP. Just saying thank you to everyone as a group for coming and for all of their love and support is good enough. Best times to do it are when you sit down to open gifts or when you are done.

I’ve been to so many showers where the speeches sound like you could copy and paste them to the wedding reception and it would work just as well. Nothing against it if that’s what someone wants to do but I like short and sweet for the shower. Depends on personality too, I have difficulty with speaking my emotions and being sappy (I don’t even buy birthday/christmas/anniversary cards with a lot of words lol) so I’ll avoid it until it’s absolutely necessary.
