No first look here! and I LOVED it! It felt so emotional walking down the isle! Yes pictures are important, but I will never forget how I felt seeing him for the first time just as we are to become man and wife. The other way around seems like a buzz kill to me, but everyone has their own priorities.

That’s nice. I’ll be doing a first look though.

I actually find the idea of the bride and groom having a private moment to themselves right before the whole “hoopla” of the ceremony and reception very romantic. You may only have eyes for each other, but it is still a moment shared with others. I really value private time. However, tradition is tradition for a reason. Most people feel the way you do, Op.

So happy you posted this OP. Ive never wanted to do a first look, but after seeing so many people talk about the advantages of them time and photography wise, I started reconsidering…this helped confirm that when my day does come I wont do one. I think its great to have the time to spend with people and not sacrifice your cocktail hour but for me I just want that feeling of seeing him for the first time as I walk down the aisle.

We didn’t do a first look either and that was the perfect decision for us. Walking down the aisle and seeing his reaction for the first time was so special. We had our ceremony at our church though, so we had plenty of time to do our own pictures in between and still made cocktail hour.

Im getting married IN May 2015, we have decided not to do a first look, Iwant to see his face when I walked down the aisle in a white gown. He is under the impression that my gown is pink. lol

We didn’t do a first look and I’m glad. I loved seeing my husband for the first time while walking down the aisle! He shed a couple tears too, which I thought was extremely sweet because he never cries – I don’t think I would’ve got as good of a reaction if we had done a first look.

Yeah for me it has nothing to do with tradition or supersitition, why would you want to ruin that amazing surprise! I guess a first look is still a surprise in its own way but that first moment walking down the aisle just has a that wow factor. I want the photo of his expression at the altar when he first sees me 😀

I think either way people are usually happy with what they did, I’ve never heard a bride say she regrets having a first look or not having one. It’s great that not having one worked for you!

We didn’t do a first look and don’t regret that decision even a tiny bit! The look on his face when I walked down the aisle was unforgetable!

Tradition in our religion is to see each other before the ceremony and I’m so glad we did. It was such an awesome private moment we shared that I could literally hear how speechless he was and then to have it happen all over again in front of our friends and family was really beautiful. In my honest opinion the day is just too short to not do a first look, but to each their own!
