Paleo.  It’s good in the short term and long. Basically, cut out all foods that aren’t 100% whole and natural– absolutely nothing processed.

By doing this, you’ll see a dramatic loss in the beginning as your body clears out the excess stores from your previous unhealthy eating habits (5-10 lbs in the first week is not uncommon).  And, if you maintain the healthy eating style your progress will slow after the initial drop, but it will keep going down on a stead pace and it’ll be REAL weight loss, not just water loss like what you get from fad diets, supplements, & diet pills.

Also, keep your water intake high (like 10-12 glasses per day) your kidneys are the body’s filtration system to eliminate toxins and excess nutrients (like sodium which is HEAVY!) from the body.  Think of it like Garbage Pick-up in your neighborhood… By keeping your water intake high, it’s like sending a truck past your street every day, instead of once a week– the body is able to eliminate the excess faster, so it doesn’t build up in your body and clog things up (like smelly garbage building up in the can all week long).  Ideally, you want your urine to be clear; the darker it is, the more junk your body had built up to get rid of.

Use shape wear! Don’t do crash diets.- they’re not healthy and not worth it. So I vote for some good Spanx and lose the weight at a safer pace.

@Killingmesoftly:  Have you ever done weight watchers? I lost 7lbs in two weeks by sticking strictly to the programme, doing a daily food diary andexercising 4 times a week. It slowed a little after that but lost about 15lbs in 6 weeks. I only had 15 to lose btw.

Paleo is a very healthy way to eat and lose weight. It is not a crash diet! It’s a lifestyle.

Hi, I’m a dietitian. I understand Paleo has been really popular lately but I am not a fan of fad diets, supplements, etc. Beans for one are extremely healthy for you. You are missing out on a lot of fiber in this diet from beans and whole grains. Fiber fills you up and cleans you out, both good for weight loss. Portion control is key in weight management so as long as you are eating vegetables and fruits, whole grains, lean protein (which beans are a great source of), and a small amount of healthy fats (ie: canola or olive oil, avocados, nuts/seeds) you should be okay with just watching portions and working out. Hope this helps. And if going to parties is an issue, have a healthy snack before you go so you will not be as hungry and tempted when you get there 🙂 Good luck!
