Difference between lab diamond vendors?

Congrats on your impending engagement!  Very exciting!  Be sure to purchase from a retailer with a good return policy so if the diamond does not meet your expectactions the return process isn’t a hassle.   My understanding is GCAL is more reputable vs. IGI when it comes to lab diamonds.  Also, though I have no personal experience, I’ve heard some pretty awful things about Clean Origin so I would avoid them. Check out With Clarity! We bought our lab diamond from there and I could not be happier! It’s beautiful, they have videos on the website of each diamond and the price was better than anywhere else I looked. The reviews online for the company are excellent!

I can vouch for With Clarity too.  I purchased a minded diamond from them for a right hand ring and they were great.

@minainthea:  yes! I was soooo nervous about ordering online and would easily recommend them to anyone that asks! The quality for the price is insane (I got a 1 Ct ideal round cut for under $1800!)

Hm, I thought IGI was good for lab diamonds vs GIA (opposite is true for mined!).

My emerald cut diamond is from Diamond Foundary. They cut some really cool non traditional shapes as well.

I think they may be on the higher end of the price scale, but they’re all grown and cut in the USA, and they’re carbon neutral which is important to me.

DeBeers also sells through their company Lightbox, and you can get good discounts on their stuff through Bloomingdales. But it’s DeBeers, so if that icks you out….meh.

@minainthea:  I recently purchased my lab diamond from Yadav Diamonds and Jewelry in SF (however I did everything online and over the phone). They have exceptional customer service and an excellent return policy (I found them through Rare Carat which is a great resource for finding reputable vendors!).

My diamond is graded by the IGI, however when I was searching for my diamond I was mostly concerned about the cut of the diamond and only looked at diamonds that fell within both GIA and AGS ideal standards. IGI can also be less stringent on color grading, however, I lucked out and my IGI F color diamond has been graded as an E color by a GIA gemologist – so it’s certainly a case by case basis.

We’ve been watching for a lab diamond too so following this thread. Inventory seemed to be low at the peek of the pandemic so spent time comparing BBB ratings and customer reviews. Based on that and now that stores seem to be restocking, we’ve been monitoring the online retailers below. Anxious for others to chime in about customer service, quality and price.

@bcaggee: I (and many others on here) suggest you don’t go through James Allen. Their customer service has deteriorated greatly since the sale of their company – they no longer value transparency and because of this, it’s harder to make sure you’re picking the right diamond for you and not what the sales reps want you to pick. I would use Rare Carat to discover other reputable vendors while you’re early on in the search process, that’s how I found my brick and mortar jewelry store that sells lab diamonds at competitive prices!

My diamond was made by the  diamond foundry.  I have a 4+ carat  with the  spread of a 5 carat  emerald cut diamond sourced for me by Kegan from Frank Darling.  It has a very very faint pink tint to it, and its gorgeous. Literally when my friend saw it she actually had kegan source a diamond for her too. It sparkles like no bodies business. Measurement 11.5x8mm.    She is awesome and will find your dream diamond.   I really like diamond foundry, I have seen other diamonds by them as well and love them

@coffeeeee: Sure,  I included pics of me wearing inside my house with lights on so my pics arent that great at all.  I included one pic of my jeweler’s hand before she sent it to me because she takes wayy better pictures and hers is in natural lighting outside.  Can I see pics of yours also?  Do you love yours as well?
