Hi Bees! My wonderful fiance got me my dream engagement ring (the Cartier Ballerine ring!!!!), which I absolutely adore. I fully expected picking a wedding band to be fairly easy since they make an entire collection of bands to go with my ring. Well, we went band shopping a few weekends ago, and I’m sorry to say it, but I’m not in love with the Ballerine bands. Believe me, I feel pretty ridiculous admitting this! However, the issue is that none of the bands fall flush against my ring and they are different depths (on the sides) than my engagement ring. Personally, I didn’t feel like any of the bands I tried particularly matched my ring, and I’m not sure I want to spend beaucoup bucks on a band I don’t love. So, now I’m thinking of looking elsewhere…any other Bees have a band that’s a different brand than the engagement ring?

@TroubadourTango: What you may need to do is go the custom route to get a band that sits entirely flush. My e-ring isn’t any one “brand” as it was custom made and then the bands made at a later date – by the same jeweller. My e-ring is a lot like the ballerine, but has floral themed shoulders. It also required a curved band and I was adament on having it sit perfectly flush with my e-ring.
Here are the results of going custom

@blushbliss: That is stunning!! What a lovely set! Are your bands connected to the e ring at all or do they just fit that well with it?

Mine are totally different. They don’t match, but I like how they look together. Shop around and try on different things until you find something you love.

@TroubadourTango: thank you! It is a sleeve actually. The jeweller created two idental curved wedding bands, and then attached them at the base. The e-ring slips between the two and is held in place without having to solder anything.
Here is a photo of the sleeve itself

Here is a side detail shot that you can see underneath where the rings are separate

My engagement ring has pave stones and my wedding band has prong set. I love them together.

I had the same problem!
My ring is a verragio so the detailing underneath means it sits a lot deeper than most. My jeweller created a plain band but instead of a perfect circle it is slightly oval shaped to be the same width when viewed from above!
Love your rings ๐

TroubadourTango: my bands are both different than my ering. My sapphire and diamond band is from Jared’s and the diamond band was my great grandmothers ๐

Mine will be different. My ering is a Sholdt, and my wedding band is from Blue Nile. Sholdt makes a matching band that sits perfectly flush and is oval shaped to be thicker on top. Its beautiful, but it also cost a pretty penny. I didn’t mind a small gap and saved $1000 in the meantime!
Ugh whenever I look at this pic, it reminds me of how I need to make an appt to have my ering polished before the wedding – the platinum has an obvious patina compared to the wedding band.

My E ring is Tacori, but I honestly didn’t care for the coordinating wedding bands- at least not to the point of justifying the cost when they were nothing special. So I got 2 no-name bands for either side which together were cheaper than one Tacori band.

I did not like the bands that matched my ring as well (They curved). I had a Victorian style ring by Gabriel and Co.’s Amavida line, similar to Blushbliss above. I DID get a band through Gabriel and Co., but was a completely different style than all the others that matched my eband and was from their “contemporary” line. Vintage vs. Modern… So I inquired about engraving the sides of the contemporary band so that it would go together better. For a whopping $30 extrea to engrave, the rings are perfect! No gap! And look like they were made to match. I could not had been happier. Think out of the box with customizing something to get what you want, since you’ll be wearing it for the next 80 years! ๐

Mine are different brands, too. As far as I know, there isn’t a matching band for my ring. For now, I paired it with a thin half eternity band from Zales (because it was on sale and looked great with my ring). My ring is from a different jewelry store, and I plan on going back to them so they can help me design a custom band that will fit perfectly with my ring. My setting has a different sort of shape, so I think custom is really the only way to go. For now, though, I’m extremely happy with how it looks. There is a teeny tiny gap — not enough to bother me — and I feel like the wedding band really plays up the center stone and setting of my ring.
EDIT: A picture! (how could i forget? lol)

I have the same wedding band as hazeleyedbeauty, lol. Both of my rings are from Jared’s but I’m fairly certain they’re not the same brand. The band that went with my e-ring was okay, and it matched, but I didn’t love it, and I didn’t feel comfortable asking my hubs to spend money on something I didn’t love. Yaknow? So we tried on a whole bunch from all over the store until I found this one. ๐
