    Cute! Do it.

    Umm no.

It's not rude to ask, but provide some in case they forget.

They're your guests, you don't ask them for anything except their presence!

oh! also! someone brought this up in another post … i think about guests signing a frame … to be careful about which type of marker you choose.  Some fade or discolor over time (like a regular sharpie)!! I’m not sure which is best, but I bet a quick google search will help you find the right kind of marker.

@minipenguin:  Oh, I like that even more (the clear ornaments for “words of wisdom” or well wishes).  I was just thinking they’d be signing them!

I’m a huge fan of “alternative” guestbooks.  We’ll be having a photobooth, and our guestbook will be set up nearby so guests can add a couple of pictures they took along with a message.  It’s part of our photobooth package.  We loved the idea because we knew it was something we’d have fun looking at later.

@minipenguin:  I love the idea!! super cute 🙂 BUT I would either provide them or even have a punch of ornaments that can be written/decorated on at the reception… I could see a lot of people forgetting theirs 🙂

@minipenguin:  I think it’s a very sweet idea, and if you like to keep those kinds of things forever, go for it.  I wouldn’t do it, personally, because it would be a collection of Christmas ornaments I would eventually want to stop putting on my tree, would never use, but would feel too guilty to throw away.  We had a couple of ideas for things, and the end decision was no guestbook, because we won’t ever look at it.

But, since you talked about looking at them every year, sounds like you would keep using them, or use a select few of them every year, rotate through them, or something.  So, if that’s the case, it sounds like a great idea for your wedding!
