I am doing it, and here is a pic of my sister’s wedding two years ago. I LOVE how it looks! (Photo by Lisa Schaffer)

Her (now) husband’s sisters were 16 and 17 at the time, and my other sister and I were 30, so there was no way we would have liked the same dress as them. I thought all of the dresses looked great together.

If you do this decide on a lenght, I don’t know how it would look with different lengths….maybe all cocktail type or something like that 😉

Ive been in a wedding where the bride chose a designer, fabric and color- then we could each choose our own dress. The dresses were by Jim Hjelm so we had a lot of options. Each dress fit each Bridesmaid or Best Man perfectly and it looked stunning!

I wish I had a picture I could post, but it wasn’t my wedding and I’m not close with all the maids to get their permission.  The last wedding I was in there were 8 brides maids.  There was no way the bride was going to find a dress we all liked.  So she said pick an Alfred Angelo dress in (I think) Cherry red.  I asked several times about length, but she didn’t care.  So half of us were in floor length and half were in cocktail/tea length.  I had questions about how it would look, but it ended up looking fine.  We all blended well together, and with that red color there was no getting us mixed up for regular guests.

I’m planning to have each of my 3 girls pick any Little Black Dress they like.  I just want it all black and between their knees and shins.  I’m going to buy them matching green shoes and green shawls or sashes.  That way there’s some cohesion.

I really like the trend, it makes things so much easier on the bride.

We did this and I loved how it looked (plus it allowed each girl to select something they liked and felt good in).  I chose the designer (Watters), color (navy, but almost a midnight which was amazing) and fabric (dupioni silk)…then the girls could pick a style that came in that color/fabric.  Since one of the girls picked the halter with the ivory lace top we ordered ivory sashes for two (that came with sashes) and I think it tied it all in nicely and broke up the navy.  [attachment=532475,69934]
