My camera broke last Saturday! (The day after my bachelorette party, but the day before my shower. ) I need to get a new one before the wedding/honeymoon.
The camera was a Casio Exilim and I really liked it. The shutter has stopped closing on it, which is apparently a common problem with Casios. Since the camera is about five years old (and only 6 megapixels), I figured it would be smarter to buy a new camera than to get the old one fixed.
I’ve been looking at cameras online, but the sheer amount of them and amount of options is mind-boggling. I’d like to keep the price under $200. All I’m really looking for is a decent point-and-shoot that’s easy to use and takes good pictures. Anyone currently using/thinking about buying a camera that they’d like to recommend?

I love my Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS. Easy to use, great photos, tons of settings, small and convenient, and a good price.

I had a Canon PowerShot before I got my Nikon, and I still use it sometimes when I need something smaller than the Nikon to carry around; I would highly recommend them! Still going strong after 5 years of use and trips to several countries 🙂

Ha! I had/have the same problem. While I was away at my bachelorette a bottle of water dumped in my purse ruining both my camera (no amount of rice has helped it) and my passport (another honeymoon necessity!).
I wanted to have a new camera before my makeup and hair trials and my shower next weeked, so just this morning I ordered a Canon Powershot, which seems to be the overwhelming favourite in this thread.

Thanks for the help, girls! Looks like I’m going to have to look into the Canon PowerShot. 🙂

I always recommend Nikon of any sort… But Canon is an equally good brand. I THINK my digital is a Canon, and my traditional camera (my baby) is a Nikon.
