I’m thinking about getting a digital cutter for all of my DIY projects…just wondering what the other bees have and what you like or don’t like about the one you have! I’m looking at the Silhouette Cameo, but it’s a little pricier than the Cricut, but I hear the Cricut doesn’t come with blades/cartriges, so it ends up being more expensive in the long run. I’ve never bought anything like this before, so any advice would be great!

I love my Cricut but only because I have the program Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) which eliminates the need for all the expensive cartridges and gives me a lot of freedom to design and cut what I want. Long story short, SCAL is now in a lawsuit with Cricut/Provocraft and it’s not being sold to work with Cricuts anymore. I believe the Silhouette still works with SCAL, and also the Silhouette has a design studio where you can purchase designs for $0.99, FAR cheaper than an $80 cartridge for a Cricut. If I were going to buy a new machine right now, I’d probably go for the Silhouette, but I think there’s a new one that’s coming out that prints as well. I could be wrong though…

@bakerella: That is really good info to know. I am looking at getting one right after the holidays since I have time to use it. Thanks.
