I decided to start using the Clearblue Digital OPKs this cycle. Just did my first one this morning. It was super easy and I liked the digital result so no questioning those “are they positive” paper OPKs. I chose the regular digital OPK over the Clearblue Advanced digital after reading a ton of mixed reviews on that one.

IMO, temping and charting BBT have different purposes. I’ve been charting for three years, it tells when you have ovulated. OPKs detect an LH surge and therefore predict when you are about to ovulate. To me, they go hand in hand. You can have a positive OPK, and still not ovulate, which you’d never know if you weren’t charting BBT.

You can also track cervical fluid to predict when you are about to ovulate. It’s not too hard once you know what you’re looking for. I only started the OPKs because Darling Husband and I have crazy schedules that don’t allow for BDing every night for a week straight, and lately I’ve been getting week long stretches of EWCM, so we’re tired and too busy by the time O actually comes. The OPKs should help me pinpoint a little more exactly.

I use Flo on my phone, which has been scary accurate even though I only started 2 months ago! I highly recommend it! Also, Amazon sells giant packs of ovulation tests which are handy too and not too pricey.

mrsalexander :  I used it for the first time this cycle. I liked them just fine. The only thing I would change is not testing first thing in the morning. Next time I will test in the afternoon even though it will be inconvenient.

I’ve just started using the advanced digital clearblue tests and, on a day I thought would be high fertility, there was nothing 😢. I got them this month as I’m sick of trying to guess with the cheapies. I’ve also started to temp but my chart looks all over the place.

I love the Clearblue smiley face monitor. Lately it’s like clockwork: high fertility starting CD12, peak fertility on CD15, and later temping confirms that I O’ed CD16.
