So I’m curious if there’s any correlation between when you start dilating and the actual delivery date.
I’m 36 weeks today and 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced.
When did you start dilating and when was your delivery date? Were you early, on time, late?
A purely unscientific study. 🙂

@regberadaisy: I am a labor and delivery nurse, so although I haven’t personally been pregnant, I feel like I can comment.
You can be 1-2cm for weeks. You may even get to 4cm without actually going into labor. As the baby gets lower and you have more practice contractions you may slowly dilate. It is beneficial that you are dilated now but you could easily be pregnant for another 3-4 weeks. I’ve seen someone pregnant with twins that got to 5cm around 26 weeks and we had her on bedrest…she ended up carrying until 37 weeks.
I’m sure you are getting ready to deliver but try to enjoy the last few weeks! You will go into labor when your body is ready!

Hi! Thanks for your insight. 🙂
Yea, I know everyone is different. But I was just curious what happened with some of the ladies on here. Pure curiosity.
I’m actually surprisingly not at the “I’m SO over” this stage. 🙂 Not sure if I’ll get there….maybe week 40? 🙂

I delivered on my due date with my first–but I was only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced at my 38 week appointment (nothing before that). I was so jealous because my SIL was due a week after I was but had been checked the same day when she was 37 weeks and she was 3 cm’s dilated and 75% effaced–but she delivered after me, on her due date as well 🙂

With all three of my kids I delivered at 37 and a half weeks. With my first I was 2 cm dialated when I went in for my weekly check up and delivered 18 hours later. The second I was walking aroung (and working) 4 centimeters dialated for 4 days but I wasn’t in labor. When I did go into labor it was only 4 hours. With my third I was 3 cm dialated and didn’t deliver until 5 days later with an 11 hour labor. Everyone was sooo different from the other. I guess it just depends on when the bundle wants to pop out 🙂

At 39 weeks I was a whopping 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced (which I just realized is exactly where you are now). I had no dilation at 38 weeks. Ended up having the baby 1 day before her due date.

With Dirty Delete, I was 1 cm at 37 weeks, 1.5 cms at 38 weeks, and I had her the day of my 38 week appointment. With DS, I was 1 cm at 37 weeks and 3 cms at 38 weeks, and I had him at exactly 39 weeks, too. 🙂
