Hi, I would love to hear your thoughts about our dinner menu. Nothing is set in stone but this is what we have right now. Before you comment, let me say that my fiance is extremely picky when it comes to food. During our tasting, we tried all of these and he absolutely loved all of it. I am worried about having ingredients such as goat cheese, feta and marscapone in some of the dishes because I know that people either love it or hate it. However, I found that all of the flavors are very subtle in the dishes (I was amazed my Fiance loved it). He always makes fun of me for eating things like goat cheese & gouda…he thinks it’s hipster food *insert eyeroll.* I am a very adventurous when it comes to food so I would like that to be reflected in our menu selection, at the same time I want people to enjoy their dinner! Thanks for your input!
Hors d’oeuvres to be passed during cocktail hour (Possibly adding two more options)
-Sun dried tomato & feta cheese tartlet
-Bloody mary braised short rib, yukon gold potato w/ pickled asparagus
-Stuffed belgian endive w/ goat cheese, fig and candied pecan
-Grilled chicken tostada cones w/ chipotle cream
Salad– with homemade vinagrette
Entree choice of :
-Sliced filet of beef w/ opal basil demi glace
– Stuffed chicken with spinach, goat cheese and roasted red pepper w/ roasted garlic and beurre blanc
– Butternut squash cannelloni
-? Possibly adding a fish option
– marscapone mashed potatoes
Late night snack:
Cheese coneys & saratoga chips

I think your menu sounds really yummy. With my food allergies I would have no problem eating most of it. However I pretended to be my friend who has more severe food allergies and he would be only able to eat the salad and vegetable medely because he’s allergic to both milk and beef among other things. I might try to back off the dairy a bit, even though I personally love all of the cheeses you are including. Lactose intolerance is a fairly common food issue.

@Mimoza: Sorry I forgot to add dessert! Unfortunately, our caterer does not have any dessert options. Still trying to decide what we should do for dessert. Options so far are dessert bar (petite desserts), wedding cake/cupcakes or an ice cream bar. There is a local ice cream company called Graeter’s that has the best ice cream around.It is one of the things Cincinnati is known for besides chili,(black raspberry chip is a local favorite) but I am worried that could get messy. I am open to suggestions!

I’d probably change the Mashed Potatoes to regular, leave out the mascarpone because you have cheese in many of the options. The rest looks good.

Were all the options you listed separated as either or? I didn’t get what foods would be paired with what. Will desserts be served or buffet style?
If you plan on serving wedding cake, that could definitely be one of the options. So with that in mind, you could do cake and cookies placed on a cupcake tray on each table (or maybe even cupcakes!), OR Cake or cupcakes and a self serve ice cream bar coupled with warm brownies?

It looks great! And I think you’ve got a good mix in each course of ‘adventurous’ and ‘standard’ food. Don’t worry about the food allergies too much. As one who’s a walking allergy, we just send in the RSVP card with the note of ‘allergic to life’, and a food preference, and the kitchen works it out.

It isn’t bad per se, like I see there’s a meat option with no cheese… but the potatoes have cheese so I couldn’t have those.
I’d be so sad if I couldn’t even eat the potatoes. Like what’s wrong with having some food that isn’t ruined by cheese?! Lol.

@MariContrary: ‘allergic to life’ that is so me, though luckily I’ve only got 1 food allergy. The majority are to beauty products. Proper hygiene is very complicated for me; all of my friends joke that I should live in a bubble because other people’s perfume/body spray/fabric softener can set me off.
