A little info about our wedding. It is out of town, 3 hrs for us and the majority of the guests and 11 hrs for some of my fiance’s family and only a couple of people will have to fly from another state . It is on the coast so it will be a mini vacation for most people. It is a kinda small wedding (approx 60 guests) and primiarly close family (grand parents, aunts/uncles, parents, brothers/sisters, nephrews, a few cousins, and a couple of friends).
It is going to be a pretty late wedding. It starts at 7pm and dinner wouldn’t be until a little after 8. Our concern is that most people would eat dinner before then and therefore wouldn’t need/want a second course. On the other hand, people are traveling a long distance and myself and my mom think we should feed them dinner. And there is going to be a cash bar (no comments on this please).
So the question is… should be do a dinner (chicken, rolls, 2 sides and drinks) or just appetizers/ hors de vours. I would mention which ever option we choose on the invitation so guests know and either have a small snack or eat prior to arriving.
Edit: I should also mention that most of my fiance’s family eats around 5/6pm which is why himself, his dad, and most of his side of the family aren’t expecting dinner. His titi (aunt) gawked at me when I mentioned food. She said “nobody goes to a wedding for/expecting food so don’t worry about it”. but nobody in their family has had a wedding wedding. They have all been courthouse with backyard bbq or nothing at all.
